Football manager? Eugh!

LOL yeah i thought the same thing about that one, but hey game preference is up to the individual right?

While I have Civ 4 and 5 and have played 4 for quite a long time, now after just trying Civ 3 once again, I feel it to be way more playable and don't play the newer ones anymore.

Civ 4 is too much micro-Management with all the upgrades on each individual unit. Also the graphics are really meh.

Civ 3 sure had a bunch of things I didn't like, like corruption for example, but I've modded em all out and now have a perfectly enjoyable game.

The things I miss a little bit in Civ 3 are "fortify until healed" and the trade overview from civ 4. Everything else is just better.

I still play Civ3 from time to time (Warhammer and HoMM mods being my favorite), but almost all of my time is with Civ4 now.

You should try to click Alt before clicking the upgrade button. ;)

This option is available unless you mean something other than the fact that an injured, fortified unit will come back to life when healed.

I've played IV and V but still prefer Civ3, Conquests of course. Haven't played it for a long time but felt like giving it another go so dropped in here today to find the patch. Interesting to see so many still seem to be playing it.

BTW I've long since stopped working for BreakAway (work for a different game company now) so if anybody could change that please

Glad to see you coming back!

Um, if you go to the User Control Panel (click on the My Account link that is higher on the page under the Civfanatics banner) and select 'Edit My Details' you can change that yourself. I don't know that a moderator would do that for you.

Don't take the badge down, we could all use the discount :p.

Still playing. I play IV as well, but there's something about the conquests (I'm a historian in training...) and the ingenuity required to make good mods that keeps bringing me back to my trusty C3C :)

I loved Civ 3, and I knew it backward and forward. I feel I maxed out my ability on that game, playing thousands of hours. It's a great game, but Civ 5 is 100 times more complex. Military tactics are so much more challenging in Civ 5, where you cant stack 20 Modern Armor on one tile. I could conquer the world at Emperor level in Civ 3, I don't think that's possible in Civ 5

The entire flaw in Civ V is that it is an eternal rental. That was the deal breaker for me. why throw away $50.oo and never be able to play the game. (I will never do any business online and certainly not extortion payments)

The Steam requirement killed my interest in it, too.

And what if your government officials manage to force the whole nation to do all of their business online with extortion payments required and with long term and severe penalties for those who refuse to submit to such economy?
