April Update

My sincerest apologies in missing this ladies and gentlemen. I'm afraid I'm leaving on vacation for a week at this point, even though the server is backup for now.

Don't worry, HoF fans! A new GIII gauntlet will be announced and the winner declared from the previous as soon as schedule and techincal difficulties allow.

Also, let's take this week to accept any suggestions for what you want to see in a GIII gauntlet. All suggestions will be given due consideration, but don't be upset if we don't use them right away. You can post your suggestions here or in the HoF annex discussion thread.

Particularly as the last one was gamma

"Monarch and any size" looks like it has plenty of scope to be hit, together with some interesting strategic choices - the ones I can think of are

tiny without ToA vs Huge with ToA
Babs or Celts or Sumeria or something else
Feudalism vs Republic
Uni's or not
Expansion through growth vs expansion by the sword

and I've got a number 3 overall so I have something to lose

I had another work intensive month where I did not even statr a HoF game I couldn't even finish the Cotm34 on time! Thank god Cotm 35 was with riders which made wiping the map clean quite easy

How about 5cc 100k?

Something like 5cc isn't within the scope of the HoF, (because there is no 5cc chart), but you're welcome to only have 5 cities.

How about a 5cc domination?

It is possible to get 5CC games onto the HoF. I've definitely got one at the moment. It's not a 100K game though! (My first milk game was an OCC and that's still on the Histo charts.)

Thinking about it though, I guess that we could do a variant game for the gauntlet. However we might not be able to check the games suficiently to ensure that the variant rules have been adhered to (we only check the HoF conditions), so it would have to be honour based.

5CC domination? Hmmm. I'm playing a 5CC game currently where I have 200 domination tiles and if I decide to attack the Americans I can increase that by another 20 or so. If I had spaced my cities out a bit more that figure would be even larger. On a Tiny map you can have domination limits under 300 tiles so maybe I'll give it a go. (But not on Sid level!)

I am so busy at work that for the last few months I have only played the Xotm and I have been unable to complete a game every two weeks. I have hardly played a HOF attempt this year and I have had no time for gaunlet games. Anything involving a small map could pique my interest!

Well perhaps I shouldn't be posting here as it won't chart in the HOF but I managed it on Warlord. It the only domination attempt I've made where I've researched future techs!
