Whatever happened to the Gold Bug? It was done, wasn't it?

I have it sitting on the other desktop as yet unindexed. RL has not been conductive to that sort of thing lately and I was gone all last weekend.

Also, there have been other little projects here. For one I wanted to create the other icons for this, for the city icons would you prefer a bug, shovel, or scrap of paper?

A bug it is then.

I'm loving the city icons Balth esp. the coins and hammers. The food looks a lot like muffins though - were you aiming for bread?

They are muffins - good eye! I thought: man does not live by bread alone. Actually, I just like the way the muffins look. I was going to use a table-ready chicken, but the "half-eaten" version would look pretty gross. I was going to use pie, but it ends up looking like whitish disks when reduced (they can only be 30 pixels wide, and most have to be no larger than 20 pixels wide - it's a wonder we can recognize anything!) So I figure: if bread can act as all food in the regular game, then muffins can represent food in this one. Besides, I've seen plenty of breads baked in such a way that they end up muffin-shaped.....
I'm glad you like the other stuff. Some of it, like the Pound coin and the chimney tops were authentically victorian to begin with - even though you can't really tell now. Can you tell that that's a microscope on the research row? That's the problem child. I couldn't find anything less complicated to shrink, and I didn't want to cop out and just have another flask there...
Now, we adjourn to the private thread ....

^ what he said or maybe getting a different angle on the microscope. I'm not sure what the object above it is though it does seem like it should be recognizable (= it's seems clear enough, just don't know what it is..).

Mmmmm Muffins with a nice cup of tea :) A more English alternative would be a scone but I doubt they would look good at that scale - I can only imagine your difficulty working with that number of pixels.

I could make out the microscope just fine. Meant to say I love the chimney tops for pollution but wasn't sure they were part of city icons set.

It seems to me that everything seems good so far. :goodjob:

You see? That's why it's good to have one of Her Royal Subjects on the payroll. Scones? You want scones? I give you...SCONES! ...and half-eaten scones...

Also, I fixed the commerce icons. Now they look like a pound symbol and a microscope, no denyin' it. Here's a file that you can test in-game (it goes in the Art/city screen file):

I prefer the scones to the muffins - they look scrumptious: the half eaten ones look all fluffy inside (marvellous). :D

P.S. As I'm Scottish I'm not sure that being a Royal Subject sits easy with me ;). However, according to Wikipedia Scones were 'invented' in Scotland so everything is all ok again :)

I think all three are wonderful.

I've posted the whole city icons file to the database. The download includes a redone city screen (wider title area, pollution box), the icons, the Governor, Hurry, and Draft buttons, and a single file in the Advisors file: maintenance. I particularly like the Draft button - Kitchener Wants You!

The link to the database file is in my signature.

Mmmm especially the first.

I'm glad I don't have to pick between them, they're both good, and both very effective.

Diplomatic way of reiterating that there were two different wonders?? If it was for me, I was not choosing the one over the other. :)

Oh, no, I didn't mean that at all. Sorry. I was thinking that Blue usually puts up a couple of options to pick from, and that I'm glad this wasn't an instance of that, because these are both perfect as-is, and I'd hate to have to choose between them. In other words, I agree with you about the Edison pick, wholeheartedly.
