I'm not too familliar with the Lord of the Rings, I have just read the Hobbit, but I have an idea. Since a major theme of Tolkien is multi-culturalism in the book, instead of having religion (which seemed very unimportant in the book) use religion to show races and what races are in a town. Then, if they have that race, use the missionary units to make race-only units. So, say Isengard had Humans and Orcs as a religion (race) they could produce human warriors or orc warriors or somehow Uri Kai-Shek (sp? and pronounciation? sorry) Just an idea.

could be good but couldent it be UUs instead of religon.

WONDERS SUGGESTOÍONS:
Brigde of Khasadúm
Orthanq
white tower in minas tirith
caves of moria
Castle of helms deep
great hall in edoras
Minas morgul
bag end
the dead city(see return of the king)
that tower in mordor but i have forgotten its name!

WORLD UNITS:(like gimli if having DamonDamons religon dwarfs
Frodo, gandalf, Legolas, Gimli, witchking of agmar, orc commander(see return of the king), Faramir, boromir, leafbeard, that urukleader in lord of the ring that kills boromir and merry and pippin!

Thats all from me! bye!

Hi. I am a great fan of Tolkein's work. I have an extensive knowledge of Arda, its inhabitants and its civilizations. I would love to help out with this project. I can write up Civilopedia entries and I can make flags/buttons.
Please get back to me on this. Thanks.

It definitely seems like we could use your help! Especially with NAU gone, I'm sure you and Morboth can pick up the slack and continue work on the mod until NAU gets back.

Thanks for the offer!

Cool. Okey.. I made some civ buttons for the civilizations from the second post in this thread. I made more than one for some.. Just let me know which you would like for each civ and I'll make 'em into .dds files.

The uruk leader is called Lurtz, the warg leader is Shakith(or some like that). Guess the Mouth of Sauron(The orc who deals with the Heroes of the west outside the Black Gate) should be there too. The Nazgul should ofcourse be there too.

For Dwarfs you could have Gloin, Gimli, and King Dain. But well Middle Earth and Belerie Land has so many heroes to choose from.

That seems to be a really good idea, cuz i dont see middle earth as really having religions

On the contrary it's all a bout it. Gandalf isn't just a wizard he's sort of a lesser angel(Maiar) disguised!
Eru the One is the creator represented on middleearth by "archangels" (Valar) from which kind Morgoth was who fell from grace like satan.
Sauron is likewise a lesser Angel who fell from grace, also the Balrog. The whole story is full of religious symbols kind of a combination of nordic paganism, greek mythology and christianism.

There are of course religions in middle earth even if they may not be organized as much. monotheistic(Eru), pantheistic(Valarism), Animism which is practiced by less civilised human civs etc. and every culture probably has different names and forms for all of these. But you'll probably have to read more than just LOTR to get the background.

sorry, but my post came out wrong. I meant religions as in how there are many different types with the same basic idea. Thats the way it is in the real world, but LOTR pretty much has valar or morgoth. Theres not much variety is what i way saying:)

Have still to insist. There is variety for sure. Behind the religions are maybe the same entities but all civilisations worship them differently. the tabletop rp MERP has or had lots of regional books which would provide info about that as well as tolkien's manuscripts unfortunatly just can't provide that info myself.
