However I would add, having 1 Inquisitor in your Holy City can be important to quickly flip back after Great Prophet attack!

In my experience an Inquisitor can even prevent a spread of a Great Prophet. While having my own religion, I conquered a Holy City with a belief that gives Production and Science for followers of other religion in owned cities (hilariously unbalanced and fun in this use-case), and at the next turn a diffirent civ converted it to their religion, so I reloaded, bought an Inquisitor preparing to use it the next turn, but the enemy went for different cities of mine. Then I reloaded to test if Inquisitors in those other cities would work the same way, and they did.

Inquisitors do not fully protect from Prophets, but they are strong enough that the AI consider not worth spreading.
