well, how do you play? building a large peaceful empire and only conquer other cities whit culture and only defending when it is war so you can win a peaceful victory, like the cultural and maybie diplo

or, are you a warmonger, that fight for all you got and goes for domination or conquest and don't show any mercy

i declare my first war whit swordsman, second whit mace, third whit rifle and so on. always fight, but it depends on how many ai's there is. Warmonger

I usually build up my nation to the point that I am advanced enough that my small army can take down my neighbors unadvanced armies.

I am a war/diplo. I like to start out with an early war to gain an advantage in city locations and after that I base who I attack on diplomatic implications, hoping to be able to drag a few other people in to fight my wars with me for the diplo points. I will also try to control at least one religion (usually Confuscianism or one of the late ones) so that I can pit people against each other later. All of this leads up to a diplomatic victory later in the game if I can't acheive a domination one.

I agree with him. I tend to build up my major city (my capital) and have a second city creating small units in case of attack. I usually by Rifles\Sam have a 100-150 prod city and am cranking out cavs and sam inf against knights and macemen. I took over Asoka's 8 cities against my two, once .. Not to mention I went and took over half of Isabellas and Napoleans land, easily quadrupling my land.

My game is at the end, not the start.

Mostly a warmonger but I do enjoy the odd cultural / space win. I never get Diplo Victory though, I just can't play nice with every civ all game. At some point at least a few of them need to be taught a lesson about making outragious demands to a civ with 4x their powergraph =P

i am a builder/war mix, and now, especialy with bts i am starting to feel the pain of not having specialized cities i generaly keep all of my production at an equalibrium, but i now see that you have to speacialize your cities to win at higher levels.

Much more of a builder than warmonger - I almost never play aggressive civs.

A mix. Early war if there's a target handy, then build, get some stronger units, kill off the civs nearest my expanded borders, build, get some powerful units, kill everybody else. Simple, really.
My object in building and researching is to get unbeatable armies. Does that make me a builder, or a warmonger ?

Builder, I like winning my games with peacfull means. That does not mean I don´t fight if I need to but one out of three games I play without entering any war at all.

I expand as much as I can reasonably sustain without crippling my economy. I prefer peaceful means (founding cities and flipping those of rivals), but when all the good land is gone I will consider raising an army of conquest.

Builder.

There are rare occasions when I am the one who declares war, for example if I share the continent with a backwater neighbor, there is no space to settle on this continent and I happen to have made an important military breakthrough (for example being the first to be able to produce cavalry (= cossacks for me)).
In such cases I might declare war especially if there are nations on other continents that grow dangerously poerful (which lets me decide that the invasion of my neighbor is best for both, my nation as well as the inhabitants of my neighbor ;) )

But aside from such cases i normally only go to war, when the war coms to me (and in such cases, if the enemy really pisses me off, I might even go into a "no pardon given" - stance where I conquer (or raze) one of his cities after the other and don´t react on messages where he sues for peace :D )

well. i only fight for cities, but it depends, i don't go for a civ on the other side of the continent. but i rarely don't declare war whit a maceman army and then rifles

Warmonger 4 life. My sig = my motto when playing CIV.

Im a warmonger, I dont build cities, I take them from my enemies!

But I have yet to play an aggressive civ.....

Generaly i stake out land i want, Im not generaly greedy unless theres an important resource i need like oil, I basicaly try to make my civ look like a country and not a bunch of sloches of paint on a map. after that, i build up
