Art of the Possible

OOC: Short term, Britain and France are better off. Long term, if the allies stand their ground long enough, Britain and France are doomed. At least, that's my prediction. Fast war means British-French victory. Long war Allied victory.

OOC: No, long war means everyone loses. Colonies will secede, industries will be destroyed, nationalists will revolt, etc etc.

OOC: Britain and France have the majority of colonies. The rest do not need to be afraid. That's why I said that long war means Allied victory.

@Seon:

No.

The United Kingdom however pledges this. It does not hold any enmity towards those nations which signed up under a false understanding of the United States intentions. States other than those named here being the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary, the Persian Empire, Bavaria, the United States and Confederate States of America which wish to retreat from the precipice may do so with honor and without threat of retaliation or consequence. Those who do intend to hew to the United States line will find themselves at war with ourselves.

@Immac

The British Government has no war goals beyond the restoration of British trade on an even footing and recompense for the economic harmed caused. The British Empire furthermore pledges that it will seek no territorial adjustments in its favour.

Nationalist revolutions are a serious concern for parties such as Ottoman Empire and AustroHungarians, and anti-war dissent are a serious concern for everyone, and factional rivalry is a serious concern for USA and CSA, but yes. France and Britain does stand to lose more. Especially considering they will suffer from all of the above.

Honestly, I'll be disappointed if EQandcivfanatics doesn't model the sheer ridiculousness and the disbelief of citizenry of USA and CSA allying or UK and Napoleonic France allying.

OOC: To be fair, all the twists and turns since the posting of update (even moreso after the extension) will be even harder to simulate. Looking forward to see how will EQ bail this one out.

If he will, that is...

You know what, I'm sick and tired of the hydras damned arrogance, im sticking and fighting til the bloody end.

Expect updated orders either later tonight or early tomorrow.

Says the dude whose only fighting because he got told gutting the Ottomans wasnt going to fly.

In all fairness, we are talking about warring on a country which signed a treaty with someone we didn't like.

Prussia demanded all of Germany, including Bavaria and Austria, to stay out. Austria demanded a swathe of the Ottoman Empire to do the same. I'm IC going to publish the correspondence later.

So Britain and France simply seek to sell their goods across the world...by force? And what if the citizens of the Fort Lauderdale Conference members simply impose a boycott and refuse to purchase French or British goods? How will the Great Powers respond then? Will French and British soldiers force people to purchase their goods? This war treads down a very dangerous path upon which Poland will not tread.

Poland additionally guarantees the integrity of our Bohemian allies and will consider the presence of foreign troops (even those we consider to be our friends and allies) on their soil to be an invasion of Poland itself.

I'm quite sure that if Britain/France decide to blockade the world, an economic crisis in those being blockaded is more or less inevitable.

France similarly guarantees the integrity of Bohemia, and respects its status as a neutral nation.

OOC: They don't have enough ships combined to blockade just the USA and CSA and protect their colonies a s mainlands, let alone the rest of the "belligerent" parties. Therein lies the whole stupidity of this war. Even if they win militarily, there's no way for Hydra to enforce their aims on the rest of the world. As its been proven time and time again, you can't force someone to buy your products. And the attitude they've adopted is forcing friendly and/or neutral nations such as mine to side against them because of the sheer unyielding, unnecessary stubbornness the Great Powers are displaying. This war is utter pointless and no good will come of it for anyone involved. How do Britain and France intend to make this war worthwhile to their people? How could the Prime Minister justify this to Parliament when even the American Embargo of 1800 didn't trigger a war?

All right, I spent most of the day trying to come up with good responses to Seon's PM but was too busy to complete it. On top of hardware failures here, we're facing a surprise audit, and it's looking as though this week is going to be slammed for me too, so we've got another week-long delay ahead of us. I'm REALLY hating doing all of this delaying, and as stated previously, am really regretting not waiting to launch this game until after the holidays. Next week should be better.

All will be revealed, in due time. In the end, time hides everything obvious, and reveals all the secrets.

EDIT: What a thrill! Or the final grips of this game. It's getting more and more delayed...

Ottoman Empire mobilises.
