Early 1970s? Ok. In 1973, Mudcrutch released a single on "Red Pepper" label. What were the 2 songs on it? :mischief:

Actually, I've never listened to Phish before.

WhatwhatWHAAAAT???

We might have to remedy that... but that's a thread / PM for another time. Sorry for the derail, Aimee.

'tis OK. Make another thread or something. Heh

One of the bandmembers of TPATH died of a heroin overdose. :dubious:

Question: Why did Tom Petty choose Reseda as a place to sing about?
Question: In what key is the song that he mentions it?

Thats Free Fallin'.

1. The song's about the San Fernando Valley. T.P. said this himself:
"'Free Fallin'' was really about Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. At the time, I was living in Beverly Hills and Mike lived in the valley, and I had to drive over Mulholland Drive, which is this kind of road that looks off to L.A. on one side and Hollywood on the other. It was formed driving down Ventura Boulevard.
"It's a very active road. It's a kind of a trip just driving up and down it.
"I'm very pleased that I was so embraced by the people of the San Fernando Valley. Anytime I go somewhere, they thank me for the song."
Reseda is a place in the Valley. From what I understand, he just pulled the lyrics out of his head to amuse Jeff Lynne.

2. F Major, if I recall correctly.

Full marks! :goodjob:

Is that the kind of question you were really looking for originally?

Yeah. Sort of. Obviously there's some things I dont know (like the aforementioned side of the bed he sleeps on).

Can you name two very popular 1980s singles on which Tom Petty played bass guitar?

If one of them is the Wilburys single, he only played bass in the video AFAIK.

Ah interesting, thank you. Actually I had in mind two Wilburys singles (Handle with care and End of the line) where he's seen to play bass throughout in both videos, but I don't have any evidence either way whether or not he also did so in the studio.

The general consensus was that Jeff Lynne done that.

By the way, sorry it took so long to answer the question. I was up all night searching through newspaper archives and didn't check CFC.

Anymore?

(really, I can only think of a handful of people who could really outdo me on the Petty facts.)

Just let the thread die in peace mang!

That wasn't a very good question.

I'm worried the signature turned invisible.
