Well, Henry Morgan was an actual governor though.Blackbeard?
I should hate that idea, but i do not.

True, but Iceland can also be designed around codexes, and expanding into Tundra early, which are both Antiquity mechanics.Exploration is a far better fit given that Iceland had little to do with the raiding, but everything to do with Greenland and Vinland.
Henry Morgan would have made much more sense as a leader in Civilization.Henry Morgan would be my choice as well.. or Francis Drake (but he may be too closely associated with England).
I suspect Teach was chosen because of his popularity..
For the pirates imo the pirate cemetery on nosy boraha could be suitable. Not exactly spectacular, sure, but would be more interesting than a port or city-turned-wonder imo. What would the wonders be for Iceland, the Pirates & Maori?
So I was right about Asia WondersVia a demo save in Base\Assets\Demo\Saves, "Asian Wonder Pack" and "Mountain Natural Wonders" appear among list of DLCs.
With Edward Teach being listed as a leader, I don't feel a bad with my suggestion of Spartacus in my thread about Civilization Stacks.AssetCloud.env located in Base/Platforms/Windows/Config has a bunch of entries about content that was either cut or will be added:
4th age: the Atomic Age
Civs: Iceland, Tonga, Ottomans, Maori, & Pirate Republic
Leaders: Edward Teach, Sayyida al Hurra, Whina Cooper
Wonders: Asia wonders
It also includes all the DLC content already announced.
Spartacus would be an amazing leader to see in the game. I always wanted some gladiatorial representation in the games, and he is the best option for a Thracian leader. He would fit perfectly for Civilization VII with the new leader criteria Firaxis has chosen to follow, since he led an army of rebels, but never led a nation. Not only that, but he could even be released alongside Thrace in a DLC.With Edward Teach being listed as a leader, I don't feel a bad with my suggestion of Spartacus in my thread about Civilization Stacks.
Hello...It has been a long time since I have posted here. Nonetheless, I am glad to come back and share something that I created in relation to Civilization VII.
I have been exploring the possible paths for civilizations through the ages of Civilization VII. I wanted to see what possible paths (only civilizations, not counting leaders or unlocks).
I also speculated on what civilizations would "fill in the gaps" and create "stacks" for various civilizations to carry them through the ages. This blog post explores just that... and more. I also look at the possibility of a 4th (information)...

Firaxis is planning to add the Goths in the near future. Probably next year. The thing that really sits with me through all these leaks and reveals of upcoming dlc and potential upcoming dlc is what on earth is the Mausoleum of Theodoric doing in the game?
The issue with that is that each era has unique mechanics. Some Modern Age civ uniques either wouldn’t work in a 4th (Atomic* Age I guess it is) or they would be horribly unbalanced. My main suggestion, I still don't know why people don't acknowledge this, is just to change into the last* era without Civ switching. You know, like the old fashioned way?
No. But you might want to consider that Ottomans, who are the only serious option for most of the Middle East 1750-1950, pulling a Mughal and ending up in modern might be a dang sight more likely than Iceland in ancient based on some vague notion of “tundra settling” which feels more like a pun on their name than attempting to capture what they’re known for.True, but Iceland can also be designed around codexes, and expanding into Tundra early, which are both Antiquity mechanics.
I am not going to blindly assumed Iceland is in Exploration, when that Civ list doesn't offer us many (if any?) clear Antiquity Civs, besides Tonga.
EDIT: Tonga and Māori are meant to complete the Polynesia Line with Hawai'i.
But am I supposed to believe Iceland, Pirates and Ottomans all default to the Exploration Age?
I think if Leif were to be a leader, the most interesting ability for him would be to explore the Distant Lands an age earlier. There is no way Iceland isn't our new incarnation of the Viking civ, the only other Icelandic entity I recognize is Björk, who would certainly be a glorious leader but not enough to carry the entire civ on her back.
By the way, fun fact, Leif Erikson himself was born in Iceland, and I think civ7 is fantastic opportunity to include him as a leader (he wasn't political leader of any sort, just explorer). Given the fact Iceland has been kinda the most "exploratory" of Norse countries and given its major (if not hegemonic) position in terms of Norse literary sagas, it would be bizarre if it wasn't Norse Iceland.
So I expect aforementioned bonuses, naval unique unit, and some bonuses to sea resources and cold climates.
That would fit better with Tonga (since Ice/Green/Vinland was well into Exploration age)I think if Leif were to be a leader, the most interesting ability for him would be to explore the Distant Lands an age earlier.
