At-st

I need some opinions on the AT-AT. Compared to any unit in the game, it's massive if kept on their scale. Should I scale it proportionally to the AT-ST/infantry/tanks/Dual's starfighters or what? The only reason I ask is that the run animation looks odd if the unit's fscale value gets changed.

Anyone?

PS: By this question, you can assume that this thing is currently getting skinned and it's effects added. All modeling/animating/sounding is finished.

It would probably look better to just make it as big as you can without overlapping too far into over squares. Because you're right, if you make it to scale with the other units the AT-AT will be ridiculously big. :crazyeye:

So you have it in its towering size? Cool!

Keep it that way. Makes it stand out.

Just so you all know what you're getting into, here's the current size I have the the AT-AT (meaning the run animation matches the speed at which the unit moves from square to square at this size). You can compare it to the normal size infantry, and a slightly shrunk AT-ST (to make it more to scale with the AT-AT). Keep in mind even a few of these beasts dominate the landscape. Any more thoughts? I'm interested to know what everyone thinks.

I like it. It does seem to be getting a bit beyond the tile's borders but it's not too bad. I think that if in mod these guys are really expansive and hard to produce, so that on average you might have only few of them at a time then it'll work great. I like how the AT-ST looks in comparison to it. I also don't have a problem with the relative scale of the infantry (under the assumption that that represents the scale of all humanoid units). Personally I put mechanical and biological units in different scale categories (just like buildings for example) so as long as they are scaled right according to each other I don't mind them being a bit out of scale between the groups. Plus, I think you're using the default scale here right, and many people like to scale down the units so it'll look even better.

Anyway, what I'm saying is, it looks great. :D

Works for me. :) I like the scale. I kind of think like Rabbit on this. Personally, I think the "people" have always been kind of scaled up anyways. I mean, how do you explain two workers, standing the middle of New York, poking their heads out above the Statue of Liberty? LMAO ;) Gives a whole new meaning to the word giant. :D

This is fantastic stuff, Smitty! After you finished Star Wars we definitly have to recruit you for more freaky WH machines:p

Maybe Civmansam should think about including the regimentsmod just to have a more proper scale for the normal units compared to this one.

Looks good SnafuSmith!

I might release some pics of the upcoming 0.65 star wars mod in advance... and one of them is going to be dual's x-wing up against your AT-AT!

That is if you get it out soon.

I'll get it out to all of you as soon as I can. I'm finishing up my last 2 weeks of my bachelors degree and getting my commission into the USAF, so a lot of things can get in the way. Hopefully it'll be done sometime Sunday, but you never know.

@Everyone about the scale:
Thanks for the replies and your comments. I too like it big, so that's the way I'm going to make it.

More amazing work, Smitty. In comparison to the other units it looks great!

Thanks for your PM reply by the way :)
