At what point do you move up a level?

I am curious how others feel about this. Currently i feel i have mastered Emperor to the point i can win with a lot of different strategies given a decent starting position(on mostly land based maps at least). I haven't tried too much at imortal yet. I just finished a game with about 200K score as romans. This felt like a cakewalk almost all the way, then again playing romans can be silly, praets are viable all the way til gunpowder units start poping up needing little suport. Ofc getting first to cavs while you allready own half the world means that the rest of the civs never makes it to any sort of gunpowder units... I might have been a little lucky but i feel it is pretty easy with other sort of leaders too given that the ai is so inept at waring and hence giving them even more advantages would be more right than wrong. I am talking about warlords 2.08 btw.

You might actually want to stick to emperor for the time being. When BTS is released let's hope the AI is significantly enchanced enough that you will actually be challenged to warrant staying at emperor or possibly moving down to monarch.

I play on huge maps, marathon speed only. I played quite a few games at nobel and was winng regardless of how much I screwed up. Then i moved to Prince which is where I am, I still can lose some games early so I have not left this level. My thinking when warlords 2.08 came out was to win with every leader then retire that leader, this way I do have a situation like you do with Prats ruling th world until you tech to cavalry. every game is different. Currently on the last leader Victoria which should be won via space race tonight so I will likely start the routine over again on Monarch level. At until I buy my copy of BTS in late July.

I'm at the same spot, but i'm not sure if i want to move up a level cause of my comp. At immortal the AI would get even more units later and clog up my system more. (It's annoying playing in the 1500-1600's for me now, will be even worse at immortal)

You probably should move up when it isn't a challenge anymore at Emperor. If you win all your games now with weak leaders you are ready to move up
