Does anyone know how I can customize UUs to increase their attack by a couple of points? (Warlords)

If not, is there an existing mod that does this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean changing a pow from 4 to 6, for example?

That's done in the UnitInfos xml file. Like anything, I'd make this it's one mod or use Custom Assets and not alter the main game files.

I mean like changing the strength of a berserker from 8 to 10, or giving him a couple of automatic promotions when built.

Also, I am a total dummy when it comes to XML and modding and such, so if you could give me step-by-step instructions from turning on my computer (:crazyeye: ) to playing the final product, that would be great.

Bear in mind that my XML experience is not in Warlords, but I don't think this part changed.
Also, step by step from my work computer might be confusing, but here goes....

1 - In the Mods folder I would make a folder named "Test" or something.
2 - In Test make an Assets folder
3 - In Assets make an XML folder
4 - In XMl make a Units folder
5 - Go back and find the Civ4/Assets/XML/Units folder (main files) and locate the Civ4UnitInfos.xml file. Make a copy.
6 - Take the copy to Civ4/Mod/Test/Assets/XML/Units and drop it in.
7 - Open this file with XML Marker (Google it, it's free!) or Wordpad or another XML editor.
8 - Find the Berserker and search for the <iCombat>X</iCombat> tag. Change the X to whatever number you want. Save (remember this is now your mod so saving is fine).
9 - Load up Civ4, select Advanced, Load a Mod, select Test and wait for it to load. Your Berserker should now have a higher attack.

For promotions I'll wait to see how this part goes. ;)

Awww, it didn't work.:(

What did I do wrong?
I was talking to a friend and they said something about clearing the cache, and someone else said something about custom assets folders and turning on no cheating.

I've renamed my Custom Assets to oldCustomAssets and then created a new empty Custom Assets folder before. I assume that clears things, but never intentionally cleared a cache.

Let me check something....

download this and install it here; C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Warlords\Mods and load it up.

It's just a 2 point increase for the Beserker.

Will you get back to me and tell me how to customize other things too?
Because I want to experiment with some other stuff as well.

If you find out what I didn't do and/or did wrong, please tell me how to correct it and/or what else to do. (Also, please be specific.)

THANKS!

Check out the tutorials forum in this section. There are step-by-step guides to creating civs, units, technologies, etc.

I don't have WinRAR, don't know where to get it (I know I'm pathetic), and there are no tutorials that I found that could help me.

All I want to do is change a unit's attack. That's it. Does anyone know how to do it?

We've all been there Prussia, no worries. I had never heard of any of this prior to last Halloween.

Things you need:

WinRAR
XML Marker
patience :)

Open the file I sent, Hit the Extract button and then tell it to go C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Warlords\Mods

Stupid Filegone! I just opened the original file and it works fine. Let me find another upload site...
