Attacko's Strategy Guide

i understand that you play with tweaked settings on Noble however, Attacko is a Diety/ Emperor level player.

However, unlike the old way of "catagorizing" (like lining things up in a museum- outdated, but quaint) in the future people will not reagrd "intelligence" as any better than "luck".

Troy is a legend around here. This is how I think it works.

Attacko makes insane statements, then waits to see who nibbles. If no one does, he continues with worthless banter like the computer memory thing. Eventually, people start trying his stuff, and actually find it amusing. I played Amphib War Elephants myself, did it as Sury so it was my UU, even, was fun. Galleys with Phattys on em attacking from the coast on an island map at Noble, whats not to like? Try it if you dont believe me, I had a riot.

We all love troy though. He adds a lot of flavor and comic relief to the boards. He will never cave either, and admit any of the real truths about Attacko or the "Guides", he will continue to insist he/they are real. It actually takes some nad to stay in character for so long, I have been here over a year and he hasnt wavered one bit.

The only issue I have is the negative impact his advice will have on new members to the forums who don't know he is just playing about. If the moderators were serious about providing a source of information for players of ALL levels then they would simply remove his articles from the forums...or label them as satire.

if they are new to cIV, they play settler
and at seltler difficulty anything will go, no matter what. Even a statement "never attack with regular units - you are wasting experience your GG-powered assault jumbo could obtain otherwise. Only attack with leadership-promoted GG units. Attack exclusively from sea - there's a hard-coded bug making odds far better in this case." would make a viable strategy.

eh, that's a pyrofalkon guide (prolific gamefaqs writer), and I have a soft spot for his writing. There's a few factual errors, and a few cases of questionable judgement, but the overall strategy and tactics are sound, IMO.

A FEW factual errors?

I could break the 30000 caracthers limit of CFC posts expressing the errors he make in that "guide". At least Attacko ideas are sometimes right ( Amphi phants are really a dangerous beast and very worthwhile to use if you can get them in time ( i.e before pikes ) ). The IGN guide is more like " How to lose in Noble"......

It seems the person who wrote this played about 3 games of Civ 4 and decided they knew enough to write a guide

Then again, to be honest, I've never seen an IGN guide that wasn't this poorly done. Or a review.

lol. yes , i am sure your deeply concerned about strangers on a game blog.

of course i suggest the real reason is that many want to push their own ideas and are prone to attack alternatives because they are like nazi's in germany of 1937.

However, any new players out there? here's a tip- attack and steal workers early.
Having the AI build wrkers for you is better than building one yourself in 8 turns while crazy axemen from the north come to kill you.

Unless you like "walkthroughs" and someone saying "and build here because fat crosses are cool and my idea of fun is the correct one and everyone else's sux even tho they can cream me in every game."
