Attacko's Strategy Guide

Spies do not negate catapults. They simply can substitute for one of the roles of catapults - spies can be used to remove the city defenses of an enemy city for one turn (at a :espionage: cost). Catapults still fill many roles which spies simply cannot, including the critical component of a reactionary force to enemy stacks. Catapults allow one of the most cost efficient mechanisms for inflicting damage on the enemy (collateral damage) and are very important in any army, whether it is for an offensive or defensive role.

Maybe if you play Settler spies will negate catapults.

thank you for the opinion. You have more experience playing on Settler level.

Fact-A million Mounted and a Spy negate catapults

Fact- Collateral and bombardment are good for lower level players

Fact- Alphabet is superior to Mathematics unless you are going for the Hanging Gardens or plan to take it.

Fact- (with spy) Horse and Sword, Currissier and Grenadeer, Cavalry and Rifle are the superior

“A player surprised is half beaten”(Proverb)

You know, it's funny that you try to pass off opinions as "Fact-". Do you know what the difference is?

Also, proverbs do not substitue for content of arguments. We are past the times of Aristotle where "the philosopher" was the authority on everything. You should try to substantiate your claims with anecdotes or evidence if you wish to be taken seriously.

I feel like I am reading the Civ forums, and then I think I am reading the Time Cube website. It's just so surreal. :)

Timing is a more important element to stategy games than is infantile talk of economies.

There are three options to this game- and scales of Catastrophism within each

Attack, Build, or Both

Romantic, Classical , Social

Plattoon, Apocolypse Now, Full Metal Jackey

Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Rapheal etc

I personally believe this strategy could work. It might be difficult to pull off, but you'd basically come out the gate swinging, and since you always build on hills, well defended. AIs close to you would get whooped. AIs far from you would get whooped when you had stacks of GG attached elephants (or something similar).

Maybe it takes advantage of a weakness in the AI, in that some are builders, or that the AI might assume you will go through building / warring phases, and doesn't anticipate total war for 12 hours straight

yes, easily the best guide on the board - unless you like reading things about "ce" (lol)
or the like.

Fact - A million Mounted alone negate everything in the game if you have a land path to your opponents and a way to pay their upkeep. You can kill any civ you reach on the turn after you reach them with enough mounted units. You have to actually research to and BUILD those units, however, and that's why Siege is not countered by much of anything in the game. It's because Siege units are so very efficient and effective.

On the other hand, if you don't have a way to pay their upkeep, then you simply lose all of your cash and all of your units to strikes. In other words, a million mounted units doesn't really negate anything.

Fact - you're playing the role of an idiot. Please to be careful that it does not infect the rest of your life.

You people understand Attacko's guides are joke topics, right? It's called parody. He writes a nonsensical guide, and waits for people to attack him. Then he just keeps them eating out of the palm of his hand with even more nonsensical arguments.

Most people don't realize that - which makes it hilarious when they scream and attack, um, "Attacko"

We really need to stop feeding that troll.

I only hope that newbies don't take his advice seriously.

By playing like this in SP games, you basically test your MP skills in SP variant.
Not sure I would go this far, but for all you nay-sayers out there, you really do need to put all of troy/Attacko's ideas into perspective. MULTI PLAYER PERSPECTIVE!!

Read this post by helemaalnicks. It goes over the top a bit, but there is a lot of truth here. NONE of Attacko's strats are designed for Single Player, but they seem reasonable if you consider Multi Player. All cities on hills, Amphib Elephants, talk of meta-game and Sun Tzu, etc, its all MP stuff.

So keep that in mind when you are talking about troy's posts. Add in the fact that English is obviously not his first language, and you will see hes not all that far "out there."

"Great Generals should always be attached to a unit and should always lead any attack even against poor odds. you get more anyway so what does it matter and it makes the computer calculate and use memory to put up a sentence saying he died."

Does that apply to multiplayer? It's a JOKE!!

OK, there are a few really stupid things, and this is one, but honestly, a GG attached to a Khmer Basllista Elephant isnt half bad, it would STOMP enemy Knights, and likely not get chosen as a defender.

I realize hes a big target, cut him some slack is all I am saying. If you want to challenge his ideas, do so in perspective.

So in an ironic twist, a million mounted units negates, well, the million mounted units, the cash, and the ability to wage the war in the first place!! :goodjob:

thank you for the comments.

one would assume there are a myriad of strategies and tactics used in various situations by many players.

In multiplayer the tactic of kill the neighbor or make him fail to kill you will result in that neighbor quitting and crying hoime to mama. Any strategy in multiplayer is really have about 30 minutes or more to sit around waiting for a game then have another 30 for getting it to work, then another 20 before someone quits.

In single player you have to make the AI do exactly the same- except instead of crying home to mama san they vassalize or cease to exsist.

"During World War II, some of the top Chess players were also code breakers. British masters Harry Golombek, Stuart Milner-Barry and H. O'D. Alexander were on the team which broke the Nazi Enigma code. "

“When you see a good move, look for a better one”
(Emanuel Lasker)

in other words the new masters of gaming are nothing more then those that can both understand and manipulate code- ie Attacko's method coupled with psychological venn diagram graphic connections.

the other strategies? specialist economy? lol.

In multiplayer the tactic of kill the neighbor or make him fail to kill you will result in that neighbor quitting and crying hoime to mama.

In other words, the optimal strategy for winning games is to win games or to cause your opponent to fail to win.

That's some deep wisdom, there.

"Code Writers, Programmers, Graphic Artist's Unconsciuos Bias in Civ4"
Attacko

"While many strategies purport to give sound advice on such matters of cottage building and catapults a more basic knowledge of color choice and unit selection and building consideration via the psychological makeup up the programmers is preferrable-
or "know the enemy".

You ain't dealing with much xx first cause here, so things will tend to be in threes rather than twos but this a facade and it is always based in twos. (binary)

The selection of events and the selection of unique units, colors, buildings, etc is more telling then what they are."
