Attn Civ 4 constant complainers

I joined to voice my criticism of the graphics and soon discovered I had more critical problems and took that to the technical forum so I see your point. But big deal so what If people complain about the game it is the general discussion part of the forum, does that preclude personal observations of the game. I would be much more afraid of people who presume to know better and dictate to others.

 Welcome to the internet.:scan:

The big problem is that the complaints from a very vocal minority drown out the majority of people who seek to share a discussion about a common interest in a game. With the exception of the Strategy Forum, I find it difficult to share a conversation actually about the game that doesn't involve the loud resonating whine of somebody who hates Civilization 4, yet still claims to be a true fan of the series...

This is the Civ4 - General Discussions Forum.

Not the Civ4 - Generally Crybabies Forum;

although a forum like that wouldn't be a bad idea.

I enjoyed; and Still Enjoy Superpower 2. =(... I know the SDK will never come out and Golemlabs has pretty much thrown in the towel; but it's definitally a good way to blow through a couple hours at work. =D

Not one word about the threads and posters that go out of their way to target the "crybabies", the "whiners", the "vocal minority", and my personal favorite, the "whiny noobs"? Two wrongs don't make a right. There are many posters that need to practice what they preach and lead by example.

Hmmmm, could I have used any more terribly over-used cliches?

I say vocal minority with good reason.

So far out of 133 regular posters on this forum, 112 have voted 8-10, stating that the game is either very good, or near perfect.

A whopping 11 people have voted for 5 and under. .

If you haven't voted yet; you better vote, otherwise you won't be counted in the consensus of what CFC thinks of Civ 4.

Already voted, gave an 8, seriously considered a 9. I also happen to be one of the vocal minority whiners that many enjoy targeting.

If you have a serious complaint, expressed intelligently, no one is calling you a whiner.

Tried that, as have numerous others in an intelligent manner. Unfortunately, unless it's someone else with issues, the replies typically rotate along the lines of....

"Your computer sucks."
"Get rid of your viruses and spyware you noob."
"It works fine on my computer." (I love this one, especially when posted in the middle of a thread IN the tech support forum)
"You're a noob."
"Fix your computer."
"Quit whining you noob."
"Upgrade your drivers you noob." (for the 75,000th time)
"Spare us, sell your game on ebay."

Rinse and repeat.

The real issue I think is the "obscenely vocal minority of the minority", those who cannot under any circumstances avoid trolling, flaming, and all-around childish behavior. This distiction isn't made on the forum though, as anyone posting problems or their displeasure with the game is made out to be a whiner/complainer, when all they want to do is enjoy the game to its fullest.

Ok, I agree that some people here (and everywhere on T3h W3b) don't know how to maturely address each other...

But the fact is, that, evidenced by my specs in my sig, the game DOES work flawlessly (or as near to flawless as any Windows application can) for a wide variety of machines, both high-end and low-end.

MOST OF US for whom the game is working HONESTLY want to help you enjoy the game that we're playing (or WOULD be playing if I weren't stuck at work ;) ) ... I don't know why your game experience doesn't match mine---but I can bet it's a minor issue---not "minor" as in "not important" but "minor" as in "easily remedied."

Everyone has a right to compain about this game. They should.
Do you have it? :p

No, I sold it. Waiting until people stop complaing about stuff before I play the game again. Maybe in a few years when the patch is out I'll fire it up again.
Buh...whu....

BWAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Get out of my Civ4 forum. :)

I blame Al Gore.

I have sig display turned off.

Yes, work, the bane of gamers throughout the world. Minor doesn't necessarily mean easily remedied, unfortunate as it is. ;) I would absolutely LOVE to know how someone with 512 meg of ram can play a huge map (as many have said they're capable of doing acceptably), I've got enough issues with late-game standard and small maps the way it is, with large maps being completely out of the question.

Anyway, in the meantime I will continue to try every tweak and adjustment under the sun to improve upon what I do have, monitor the tech support forum, pray for Firaxis to find some obscure bit of code that improves performance, and beg my wife to allow me to spend the dough necessary to dump a couple gigs of ram in my box.

These are my specs. I apologize in advance...

1.5ghz Athlon. 512mb RAM. 128mb Nvidia. Win2k.

It's simple. When the Civilization IV community can actualy express joy for the game instead of complaints, then I'll play the game.
I'm VERY sorry that you can only gain enjoyment from jumping on the bandwagon. So, did you sell your Hanson CDs yet?
