Avalon Hill's Diplomacy

Miaow, brup, miaow, miaow...[translation]

"In 1901 France considered the Austrian leadership to be in alliance with Italy...thus we logically assumed that aggression would directed towards France. Italy in 1901 seems to be content expanding her empire at the expense of lesser nations. But in 1902 she has re-affirmed to Europe her Austro-Italian pact and the post-poned assault on France."

"If Austria requires Italy to protect Trieste then where is the Austrian army and navy directed? Not towards France the approaches to our nation from Austria are via Northern Italy which is congested with armies. Indeed the Austrian armies are directed against those of Russia already and newly in position to attack those of Turkey... If it were otherwise the Austrians would be quite capable of holding her own territory."

"France will pursue actively a war of defense against the Italians and asks simply for Turkey and Russia to do the honourable thing and crush the Austrian Empire and remove this tool of Italy from Europe."

"The kitten wants to lastly remind Italy and Austria that Napoleon was quite capable of defeating Austria and Italy...it was only when he warred with everyone in Europe that he was eventually crushed...the kitten won't make that mistake. :D"

Per edict of the Habsburg's it is now official that the Austro-Hungarian Empire officially is in a state of war with the French Republic.

All other diplomacy shall be held in private; Austria is not one to be seen publicly begging for support... a dubious skill at which the French seem most adept.

To Austria's accurate assessment of international protocol, I can only add the point that Kitten was described in the press release as the nuisance, Napoleon IIIrd, not the more impressive Emporer Napoleon I.

Good try, though!

Awaiting to defend against this odd alliance...and to quote dear old Napoleon "When you set out to take Vienna, take Vienna."

I haven't quite seen a game start out like this. Ever.

A crafty move, but in Diplomacy, they are all crafty!

Or in hindsight, stoopid!!!:)

Only history will be the judge.

The line between creativity and lunacy is so fine, there are some who say there is no line at all! :p

Also since the Austrian diplomatic office is now closed to France, all correspondence between the two will have to come through a third party neutral state. Perhaps Switzerland? ;)

Pellaken has bowed out of the game, due to time concerns and such.

I am working on another player as we speak.

The deadline will be moved to Friday until further notice.

Adamski said he wanted to play earlier in the thread but we had filled our quote...lets bring him in.

Yeah, agreed he's a veteran; seems only fair, unless FFox has already offered to one of his frozen tundramates. Plus it will boost the international flavour of this considerably. Deadlines will suck for the poor lad, but hey, somebody has to live in New Zealand, right?

Italy is keen on Adamski...hmmm

The new player's E-Mail is gottlieb_oliver@hotmail.com.

I have played games with him many times, and he is an old hand at this Diplomacy stuff...

He should be posting in the forum any time now.

Very sad for you, Adamski. But keep watching this page; I've volunteered to GM the next one to repay FFox for his sterling efforts on this one, and since no one seems to be taking the game at all seriously....

:ripper: [punch] :rocket2:

:satan: :midfinger

I'm sure it will be a more than pleasant group to play against in a second round.

But I am chomping at the bit to get on the road for the next one...

Hopefully, you guys will sort out your differences and work towards a peaceful Europe.;)
