I pick that right away!

Rheinmetall, very good. But before I change my avatar I want to see how it looks when the background is transparent(?). Not white. Grey.

My try with it!

Very good, Raisin Bran! I may put it as my avatar! But I'll wait what Rheinmetall does with the transparency(?), and maybe look for other's inventions.

Raisin, isn't that a bit small?

a standard avvie is 70x70 .... its 70 high! :)

I'll do transparency in the morning. I did 1 hour overtime this night and am a bit tiredd.

[EDIT]

I can't actually do anything. I spent yesterday setting up my new hardware and I have installed next to no programs yet.

[/EDIT]

The problem with transparency on CFC is that different skins have different background colors. Transparency is all well and good, but any curves always look somewhat pixelated when exposed directly to a transparent border. There's a solution to this, called a "matte," but you need to know what background color you're using in order to apply one.

For example, here is a circle with a transparent background:

And here is a circle matted to the background color of the Modern CFC skin:

Now, as quite a few of you probably noticed, that looks a little odd in some other skins. Interestingly enough, that actually looks pretty acceptable in every skin except for Black CFC and possibly Dark Blue. This is because the background colors for posts that all of these skins use is remarkably similar. The light gray obviously stands out against black, and the dark blue of the Dark Blue skin doesn't do much to hide it either.

This isn't as much of an issue for avatars because all of the skins use colors that are very similar in shade for the left column. Your avatar will still stand out against the Black CFC skin, but I think that matting can provide a good solution to the rough edges that transparent images often have.

EDIT: Okay, after playing around in Photoshop for a bit, it looks like the best matte color is the Turnip Green background color, #B8D0BB. It looks good against all of the left column background colors that CFC uses, except for that of Black CFC.

Can this be shrunk to 80x80 please (or whatever my size is)

that seems to be a great candidate for colorization by the way, fi you want it so

I'm thinking of changing my avatar to something more representative of me personally. I like the Ninth Charm, but half the pictures for me in the Alternative Member Photos threads are of boats and/or pirates, which gets a little ... dull and repetative. I've never even seen the actual boat! I've only been on ferries between Dover and Calais, apart from one trip to watch an island covered in puffins! Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking for something that suggests science (particularly biochemistry), and doesn't hide the fact that I'm a girl, without suggesting that I'm in any way nautical. I like blue, too. Maybe a picture of cells or something under the microscope? Electron microscopy? Protein tertiary structures? A DNA helix? A protein chain (primary structure only)? Some chemical structures?

Here's one I was thinking of having, but I doubt it would shrink well. Any attempts gratefully received nevertheless ...

I did try to shrink it to avvie size last week but it did not yeld any great results. I even tried to add some boldness to the black lines but it did not look like anything when shrunken.

Ill try to see if I saved a pic later. :)

varying crops, darkenings, and blueness. Let me know if you want the color of one, but the crop of the other, etc.:

Exlude the person from the colorize, blue hair looks weird.

Those are great, ybbor. :goodjob: Any chance you could change her white shirt to a blue one? Sky-blue or powder blue would stand out better against the white background. I think the first two are the best!
The colour on her in the first one, but the blueness/boldness of the chemicals in the second one would be ideal (+/- blue shirts)
