Avatar of Wrath is crashing my game

Don't forget to turn on the "End of Days" option, to double the AC rate. I tend to do that a lot, mostly because the effects of the AC is one of the features which makes FfH so distinct from base CIV and other mods.
 
But double AC rate can unbalance a game...
 
Unfortunately I don't have any saved games to reproduce that bug, but remember it happening earlier.. it was maybe a year ago or so.

If you have a late game save with lots of units in. You might be able to reproduce it by setting AC required to trigger wrath.. lets say AC10 ;)? After modifying XML and then loading such game, playing one turn will trigger wrath. I tested it with my latest game but had no problems with it. Maybe there was simply not enough units to cause problems or something has been fixed since.

The XML file in question is "CIV4EventTriggerInfos.xml". Just use search and find <iPrereqGlobalCounter>90</iPrereqGlobalCounter> and set it to something low enough to test it with your save.
 
Thanks deanej, Ii think that wouldl be really helpful. I know a lot of us tend to wait for 'official' patches, we wanted to see Kael weigh in; however, realistically I don't think that will happen as Kael has moved on.

It may be a good idea to have a stickied thread for 'patches' as opposed to whole mods. Tholal posted a pyre-zombies and Sone of Asena patch; if you can post a fix to the Avator of Wrath bug, I think a lot of people would appreciate it. It seems to me to be the msot serious bug still out there.

So an appeal to ANYONE - please post a save that deanej can fix! I tend to not get high ac's, but some of you do (Sheaim players?) so it would be great if you sent one in!

As far as I know, noone has done this yet. I hope deanej (or someone) is still willing to try to work with this. I think there are several saves WITH the bug. Here's one which DIDN'T give me the bug. It's saved at the point where hitting next turn spawns the avatar. If I understand the way things work correctly, it's entirely possible the RNG could still end up triggering terminal WoC for somebody else loading up this save.

I can't load your save. With or without the debug DLL, I just get a CTD with the error "the runtime has requested the application terminate in an unusual way". No asserts or anything. With FFH attached to visual studio I can see a ton of memory errors. Was this save produced with an old patch or have lock modified assets enabled?

Oh dear! No, nothing like that. But it could make a difference that I'm running Tholal's More Naval AI (on top of patch O). I'm sorry I forgot to mention it.

If that's not the source of the problem, maybe I need to try uploading the save one more time. Just let me know.
 
I'll get rid of the modmod and get started on a new game with AoW as my goal.

Since you said the save was from my mod, I was loading it up to see if I could track down the source of the problem, and then I realized that you said you had uploaded a save where it didn't crash. I double checked anyway and the Avatar of Wrath spawned with no problems. As far as I know, this particular crash bug does not occur in my mod, though I don't know what specific fix I incorporated that took care of the problem.

It occurs to me that this could really help narrow down the possible culprit, if true.

To any and all who read this message,
IF you run Tholal's More Naval AI modmod,
PLEASE post here if you have EVER (since you installed that modmod) had an endless WoC (waiting for other civilizations) incident on the turn that the Avatar of Wrath spawns.

Just off the top of my head, if it turns out that Tholal's modmod fixes the problem, it may have to do with units onboard ships turning barbarian (which has been an issue in the past) or in some other way with naval units, although Tholal has noted that his modmod goes beyond just naval AI fixes.
 
Does this problem even exit anymore? I have not seen anyone post that it does with patch o. Not that I've been paying too much attention either so maybe I simply missed it.
 
I'm not positive but I do think the early posts on this thread were with the latest patch. It is of course possible that whatever happened with patch o reduced some of the instances but not all of them, so we may be seeing it less often. However, we don't have as many people playing now, so I have to admit I just don't know.

I'm getting a WoC hang on the AoW's enrage power. Latest patch, no better AI thingie.
 
This is the latest auto save. I think it is from two turns before.
