Since the roster seem to be a bit "ad hoc" I take the liberty to just jump in and play a few turns to get the game going again.

Then we deal with the riots, lux up to 20% and some entertainers should fix that.

Attacking portugal. They lose 5 cavs. We lose nothing. A great leader, Dirck Hartog appears! He forms a the cavalry army we need to kill the portugese infantry.

Portugese ships with reinforcements are arriving.

(8) 1345 AD - Heidelburg: they lose 1 rifleman, the city falls. 1 resister. The city has a barracks.

We kill 1 roman spearman and 1 portugese infantry.
All troops retreat from portugese territory to regroup.

(9) 1350 AD - We attack the romans, kill 5 longbows. A great leader, Willem

Jantszoon, appears! He forms another army.

We gather a great strike force outside Alexandria.

IBT - Portugal attacks our strike force, but we have planned well and stand tall. They lose 4 infantrys and we lose 1 merc.

Greece and Germany sign a peace treaty.
Byzantine and Rome dito.

Rotterdam, Utrecht, Nijmegen: cav->cav

Gouda riots.

(10) 1355 AD

Alexandria: we manage to injure most of their units with our trebs. Portugal lose 4 infantry, we lose 2 cavs. The city falls, 1 resister.

Heliopolis: Portugal lose 2 infantry, we lose 1 cav. The city falls.

We give the Romans a good bombardment before we attack them. They lose 2 riflemen, 3 longbows.

So, thats it.

Steam power is due in 4-5 turns (we're running at a dangerously high negative income right now).

Now may be a good time to make peace, our enemies are regrouping and will soon strike back with full force and we would really need to get some time to get our land railroaded as soon as we get steam power.

The Northen front
Here our defenses are thin, since Byzantines (until recently) did a good job defending it against Rome and Germany. Rome have been sending obsolete units up until now, when they began sending riflemen. Germany has riflemen and longbows. Neither of them has (yet) sent any cavs. Germany are weak and easy to take out if we would like to.

The Western front
Here we have more forces, but the situation is chaotic. The only reason that we could begin to retake citites is that portugal ran out of cavs. More cavs are coming in by boat, so do not think that we already have them beaten.

Yes, I managed to get a grand total of 3 MGLs in these ten turns. I made armies of them all as cav armies are our best hope against Portugals infantry. At least one of the armies are not yet completely filled, so the next player should check their health.

When we get Steam we should build alot of cannons. That combined with our cavalry armies should give us quite a good chance to survive until the enemy has tanks.

IBT. Portuguese land an Inf in former Germany. Bys and Sumeria sign peace. Hittites and Germany sign peace. Sumeria and Byz sign MA vs Germany and Maya. Byz capture new Berlin; I was going to take it this turn...

Attacking Edfu leaves our cav army 1/14, but wins. ** phew ** In the end we capture Edfu without losses. There are no more Portuguese cities on our continent.

IBT. Greece and Hittites sign MA Vs Rome. Germany and Hittites Vs Maya. Sumeria and Hittites sign peace. Greeks want to talk. Trade our WM for his + 13 gold.

Sign peace with Maya (we pay Electricity) for WM + Ironclads + Sanitation + Navigation. That ends the Trade embargo against us between Maya and Portuguese.
Trade Greeks Industrialization + Electricity + Sanitation for Music Theory + Nationalism + WM + 32 gold.
Facism (probably our best Government) is around, but unobtainable.
Our financial situation is: 81 gold, +1 gpt. That should improve with more rails.
We still have a 1 turn Alliance with Greece Vs Portugal and Spain and Sumeria.

Changed all defense-builds to temples. Workers start railroading our 2 wonder-building cities.

On 2nd thoughts; I can get Fascism now, by signing a MPP with 1 city (size 1) Germany. The only two German enemies close are a Sumerian city; which whom we are still at war and a Mayan city, which we just made peace with. Germany's enemy's are: Rome - close, but a sea is between them, Inca - same and Byz, far away. Since we are forced to break a treaty, due to the MA with Greece Vs Portugal and Spain and Sumeria being signed 1 turn too late, I might as well get the most of it.

Signed MPP with Germany for Fascism + 392 gold. This is a risky move, But since we are so far behind, well worth it. We need Fascism for it's worker efficiency, Forced labor (we haven't had time to build happy generating buildings, nor are we very well able to trade luxuries during the WW's), the unit -support and the none-War weariness. I opted to revolt immediately, but choose not to, as it would decrease our negotiation stand in next turn's peace talks with Spain, Portugal and Sumeria.

Sell Electricity to Rome for Espionage + 1 gold.
Sell Electricty + Sanitation + Espionage to Germany for Communism + 679 gold + 15 gpt.
We now have 1153 gold, 16 gpt.

IBT. Rome declares war on the Byz. Maya have attacked Germany, Our MPP-brothers. We have to declare war on Maya's. Bye Bye Rep. We see some nice Byz-Rom fighting. Our Palace expands, gets some nice trees on the lawn.

And that's it. Next player can decide to revolt to Fascism or not. I would. I got us 12 techs, but don't think we are anywhere near tech-equality. I must say my fears of playing this lost game have disappeared, It is still winnable. Perhaps not honorably (according to Realm's rules, but still...
