I am trying to create my first ever Aztec set, and noticed that most concept art there is presents very few differences between the various Aztec temples.
But in a CivIII city this is very bad since i risk getting stuck with boring centerpieces.

I modeled something like the Templo Mayor, but the second centerpiece is almost identical to it (to the leftor the main one). The houses are just placeholders, left there from the germanic ancient set.

If you could direct me at better concept art for Aztec major buildings, or anything centerpiece-like, it would be a really great help :)

A little too red, in that you should more colors. Look at reconstructions of Aztec temples.

Also, I would suggest modelling some more of the buildings in the Templo Mayor for your metropolis -- the round temple in front of the main pyramid, the skull rack, etc.

Indeed, seems to red. I think you need more trees and such. Weren't most meso-american cities built around relatively lush water basins?

Sorry for the distasteful second bump, but i have another question :)

Could i get away at all with posting the Aztec set as Ancient Meso-American?

Or is there any other info about the ancient era of what became the Aztec civ?

There are the Olmec and Zapotec. The Zapotec were centered around Monte Alban. The Wikipedia article has some good pictures of the pyramids, ball court, etc. there. You could model the ancient set around Monte Alban and maybe add some massive stone heads that have been found at Olmec sites and are their most famous feature.

Thank you for that information HC :)

It seems though that little remains of those buildings. I will try to find some reconstructions.

Meanwhile the Aztec set is almost finished:
