Ok, here's the deal.

I've conquered the whole map apart from the Mongols and Russia (they are my vassal). When do the Aztecs come, and if they don't, how do you sail over to America? The game won't let me sail into the blackness to the west!

This is really annoying me because I want to go to America and have new lands to conquer, especially as the Aztecs name appears when you do diplomacy (when you ask the other faction to attack a faction). I really can't be bothered to conquer the Mongols or Russia.

Please, please tell me what happens with the Aztecs.

You have to wait until Columbus discovers the enw world I think. How late does the game go? As he discovers it in 1942.. I havn't palyed past 1300 (if that) yet.

It's around turn 160. A window comes up saying that they discovered the world is round, and they realised they might be able to reach China by sea.

You still need to build all of the shipyard buildings, so you've got the highest type. Theres a new ship type you can build with this, which can enter the open ocean. IIRC the spanish and portugese don't need to build the special shipyard..... for those nations the advanced ships are available as soon as the world is discovered to be round.
