Bad Graphics glitches...

Hello all, I just patched up to 1.61, following a new install and loaded a huge map I started previously. When I scroll over a continent the graphics go all wierd, all triangular patterns in colours derived from the textures , black areas and the cities and improvements mostly disappear. Looks like mostly Sandy/plains areas affected, may be coincidence. When you pass by the centre of the continent it all goes good again. Is it the old saves not compatible with the patched up game?

Otherwise though, its scrolling much smoother, and loads much faster than pre patch. I patched coz I was getting CTDs due to Memory allocation errors on late game big maps.

I am using a Gainward Nvidia Geforce 6800GS+ 512mb ram (AGP).

Nvidia driver version 91.47 - should I try an earlier one, and where do you get them?

Other details Athlon 64FX55, Gigabyte GA-K8NS ultra-939, 2GB ram, WinXP home sp2. Windows/installed progs on 2 Raptors in Raid0.

Edit - I have tried the new beta Driver version 92.91 and the older 84.21 all with the same results. Is there one out there that actually works???

**UPDATE** I have updated my MoBos BIOS, and after frantically trying to get my RAID back I tried again but similar results.

I have some screenshots:
This is the on map corruption I am experiencing. NB I cheated heavily on this map - trying to create the ultimate US - its huge and has loads of everything.

THis one is a look at the world builder on a fresh map - its the 18 civs world map from the Map subforum - 1.2. Look at the minimap - sometimes most of the minimap is obscured.

Aha - I reduced some of the graphics settings and it seems a lot better.

Unchecking the high detail terrain seems to be the most significant. I cant really see the difference.

I really thought this graphics card would be able to handle this on highest settings - Its sposed to one of the better AGP cards around. My Radeon X800XT can handle it better.

I will play through a scenario and see if it still comes up with problems once I've filled the map a bit.

I am having the same graphics glitches.

In Civilization IV, Warlords and Railroads.

Very annoying.

You're lucky to have it working at all with a 6800. Many other users with this card experience complete corruption of the graphics with some getting checkerboard effects after a period of time. One thing you may have overlooked is the power requirement for the card, the issues you're having can be related to a lack of power from your PSU to the card or perhaps a overheating issue. Try playing with the case off if you can or disconnect some devices ie. surplus CD drives and see if that makes any difference.
