Brought to you by Chris Crawford...

Who remembers this game? I remember playing it on my friend's Amiga computer when I was a lad, freshly surfacing unscathed from the just completed Cold War.

"Balance of Power" history

I need it for Windows... I'm looking for it now. There should be some sort of emulator or something, you can find tons of old Atari games, etc available as online emulators...

EDIT:
Found an emulator:

There was a DOS version. I've had it on my computer's disk(s) for some 20 years, to try "some day soon".

This sounds awesome!

Kind of a shame diplomatic/geopolitical games fell out of popularity due to the fall of the wall...

I spent about 2 hours trying to get the 1990 version (which is, in fact, the version I played years ago) to work on my Windows Vista, to no avail.

Does anyone know how I can get it to work?

Get DOSBOX
Get Windows 3.1
Boot Windows 3.1 in DOSBOX, run BOP
OK, I will try this... I may be (read 99% chance) contacting you for more in depth instructions on this.

Thank you for your help! I'm trying to relive my youth.

It sounds awesome but I assure you it was not. I remember playing this too on my apple IIc... I recall a lot of blowing up the world which sounds a lot more fun than it actually was.

I was there, man, but there's no option in the poll for "yes, and every single time I played we managed to trigger WW3 by escalating over some bullcrap issue like foreign aid to Ethiopia".
