I know it's technically not a bug, but I put it here instead of "ideas and suggestions", because feel like that one is more about ways on how to make certain parts of a game even better, while this is about fixing the bad stuff.

There are way too many barb camps, and they spawn super close to you. It's okay when there are more CS and civs near you 'cause they'll take care of most of them. The problem is when you spawn in a relatively empty spot - you just have to produce only military units, before grabbing at least one settler, which sets you even more behind the deity AI (and try going for religion with 4 barb camps that discovered your city). I don't want to turn barbs off, because I think that they make up a small, but important part of the early game. I pretty much have to restart the game 3 or 4 times after 20-45 turns (so like 40mins-1h before I actually start). I know that it's not necessary and you can play with so many barbs anyway, but I just DON'T ENJOY IT AT ALL. I recently stopped playing Civ6 because it's really annoying.

Please introduce "barb intensity" slider, same as for disasters. Maybe for emperor, and deity the minimum value would be 2, but right now it feels like a 4.

I voted for 3 things, but any one of them would be great. I almost always play on Marathon/Huge maps and think the barbs pop out too quickly sometimes. It's no fun when you're dealing with horseman and horse archer barbs and you can't make units fast enough to deal with them. You might have your warrior and slinger out, but another barb will spawn before you managed to clear it and it really becomes a hassle. It doesn't seem like the barb spawn rate scales with the settings. On standard you can pop out a unit every few turns, but not on marathon. If that's not possible, an intensity slider would be fine.
 
Map settings and stuff must make a huge difference because I’m often wishing for MORE barbs because I need the era score to avoid the classical era dark age
