Hello fellow Civ players.
After some time playing Civ myself, i found the wonderfull work you guys doing with the Community Patch Project. Interested to see the new stuff i grabbed the latest Version from March (v. 1.3.9) and played a few games.
So far i realy enjoy the new content but two things and i wasnt able to find a post about it, so here i go:
1. CS get invated from hordes of barbs from time to time, spawning multible units every couple of turns until the CS eventually falls till the timer runs out. Thats all nice, but after several attemts to defent the CS, they still swap over at the end of the timer, even if no barbarian should be able to even reach the city in question. Is this intendet or do i just make a horrible mistake im not able to see?
2. Even with a strong warmonger playstyle i cant even reach the base resilliance of 150 to demand gold tribute, not to mention demanding heavy tribute (or puppet the CS as mongolia) especially the later one seems questioning. Again is this intended? Anf if so, how can i overcome it?

As i´m native german, wrong spelling may occur, i apologize in advance and thanks for all the help i will get :)

For the CS invasion :

During the duration, few barabarian arrive near the city. There is multiple wave. If at least one barbarian of those wave is alive (maybe that's not exactly the condition, but the condition is approximatively that) at the end of the timer, the CS is captured.
=> It should not have any wave during the last few turns, but there is a bug on that point in your version : if you're unlucky, the barbarians may arrives at the last turn and then capture the city. (corrected in March 18th (3/18) Beta Hotfix)

I've not manage to find when CS tribute need were rebalanced (because people were saying that there were impossible to achieve). So you may play before those changes. In any cases, don't forget that being powerfull is not enougth, your armies should be suffisantly near to the CS.
If you want to tribute a CS, the easiest way is to declare war to them, kill their army (you don't need to attack the city), then make peace and tribute them.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes i saw this multible times with the barbarians. They spawn around 1-2 turns pre timer ending and then it is impossible to kill them all. especially since the lase wave seems quite huge and well advanced in weapons, compared to the other ones (knights instead of horsemen, pikemen instead of spearmen and so on) not to mention that they spawn in the most stupid way for me, like in the back of my archers. but maybe thats just bad luck.

I ofc put units near their borders, but it just raise the counter for a lowsy 10 points, dosnt matter how many they are. but i never tried to kill all their stuff. i will try this and see what will change. should still be worked on :)

Where i can find the hotfix? the barbs are realy anoing, if you cant do anything about it. since you need to hold some units for the CS and after 30 turns binding your troops, you still need to capture it back.
If would feel much better with even more barbarians spawning, but that they actually need to capture the city. it feels extremly stupid, when you can make a saftly net of troops around the CS and then it suddenly falls to a last spawn somewhere in the shadows

Even in quick speed? I've played somes games in quick (which honestly almost feels like vanilla standard speed) and the last wave always spawns on the last turn of the assault (and killing 3 units in 1 turn is pretty tough :/).

It have come to a weird state where it's easier to liberate the city after it is taken than protecting it :P

You get over the resistance level for city-state tribute either by declaring war, killing their units, and then demanding tribute (see the Mongolia AI in action for a textbook example of how to do this properly) or you just get a massive military and park it on their borders.

Usually the former is necessary in the early game and the latter comes easy in the late game. Once the city states lose their units they generally don't build them back up very quickly afterwards.

You should have three turns to kill the last wave of barbs after they spawn in an invasion event. It's worked that way for as long as I can remember. The only time this is hard to clear is very early in the game. Horsemen really help clear things out, even if they spawn spearmen (let the CS kill those while you kill the other units).

You can't half-ass the early game barb invasion CS events though. You're units will get killed that way.
