bed_09 - Random RaR Deity

Guys,
Please skip me.
I am totally swamped at work.
In addition to the big project i've started we've had a network disaster i need to take care about.
Looks like i won't be able to play for few days. :(

Nice turns and trading. One thing though. You mentioned pre turn changing Karakorum for growth and Tribal Guard in two, but if I remember correctly it was set to grow in one, and on growth it would have picked up all the shields you got from setting it to growth in two.
I think i tried for 5 -10 min to find the best combination and whether it would pick up enough shields, but came to the conclusion that growth in 1 wouldn't give us enough shields.
anyway, didn't matter, but we better send those champs to war now for a quick war, burn some units and get the silver town, go for peace and start building infrastructure in our capital. we should improve those iron mountains, their shields are impressive.

and I agree a granary for every town for 2 ages is far better than a rax for 1 age.
I would also like us to consider the fast path to our UU for a second Korean-American war

Karakorum would have taken either the mountain or the furs on growth. It doesn't really matter, at the minimum it would have been 6s+8s=14s after two turns for a three turn TG without a problem. Certainly not a problem, and I would not have bothered mentioning it if I hadn't been the previous player.

1250 BC
I don't understand while I have nothing moved. I can somewhat accept the military, but the scouts, workers, and settlers should have been moved.

I switch Karakorum to Stonehenge and SGL rushes it. We at least get one wonder. :D
Slave trade was tempting for the production boast, but our empire has enough happy problems.

1225 BC
(IT) America completes The Sphinx.

1175 BC
We get Classic Education as a monopoly tech.
I ship America Classic Education for Seafaring, Construction and $40.
I ship the Iroquois Classic Education for Iron Working and $5.
I ship Polynesia Classic Education and $35 for Polytheism.
We can now start mining tiles. :D

The next research project is Poetry, as the AIs tend to ignore it.
(IT) I watch an Iroquois brave win. They are in GA mode.

1150 BC
Now that I pulled of the trade it is time for WAR. :hammer:
This turn I simply capture 3 workers.

1125 BC
Darhan is formed and we will have Gems after a border expansion.

I am not sure how good champs will be vs. spears on a hill so I will wait for a couple more.
(IT) We lost 1 champ.

1100 BC
I kill an archer and a camel rider creating 2 slaves. The assault will have to wait another turn. I want plenty of champs for a defense 3 unit on a hill. Hopefully losing the archer to care of any defensive bombard as spearman are a rare unit in RaR and don't get it.

1075 BC
The assault on Atlanta begins. I create 3 new slaves during the attacks.
It cost 4 champs to kill 2 spearmen and 1 archer.

LAK-712.jpg

(IT) Tibet completes the Hanging Gardens.
Babylon cascades and completes The Great Wall. I am glad to have that on the other continent.

1050 BC
I kill 2 archers losing 1 champ, and gain another 2 slaves.
There are 2 more archers approaching. Keeping Atlanta make get trick if the keeps up.
(IT) 2 champs, including my only elite, are dead.
Persia completes Slave Trade.

1025 BC
I simply watch the American troops.
(IT) The resistance in Atlanta is over.
:borg: Resistance is futile. :borg:

1000 BC
Poetry turns into a dud of a trade as I can only ship it to the Iroquois whom are already in the Middle Ages.
I ship the Iroquois Poetry and $140 for military training. We can now build barracks.

==========================

Summary:
We gained Atlanta, a nice block of cash and 9 free workers.

Keep the boat wrapping around the top of our island. I would like to know if any city site is possible to claim that wool.

We need to get a worker over toward the gems to have them connected after the border expansion in 15 turns. Slaves upgrade to workers and I have the block heading back to the capitol for upgrades.

Romeo can decide how far to push this war. Ta-Tu will be able to also pump out every turn champs as soon as the barracks is completed.

"Poetry turns into a dud of a trade as I can only ship it to the Iroquois whom are already in the Middle Ages."

I've had this happen to me too. Even at a monopoly, Poetry wasn't valued that highly. Would be interesting to just skip the whole optional bottom part of the tech tree, if GL is not planned, and see if they could just be traded for later, while opening up a lead on the required tree. Never tried that before.

I got it. I will try to level everything. It is a real good thing taht we got stonehenge and not the Sphinx.

BTW, I believe that Stonehenge is an expansionist wonder (Mongols are expansionist is RandR, correct?), so you could trigger a GA with Sun Tzu for a mil buildup pre-war.

IHT: Swap Ulanbattart to monument and whip it. I want the pyramids as well. Atlanta gets the whip for the monument.
Turn 1: Kill 2 archers, get 1 slave lose 1 champ. Karakoum swaps to forge.
Turn 2: Ta-Tu goes to 1 turn champs. Lose a champ attacking an archer, kill an archer, retreat a camel, get an elite.
Turn 3: Defend against archer in the IBT, gaining an Elite and a slave. Dear Lord I love militaristic. We have a really nice cheap labor force. Lose full health Elite champ to reg camel. 6 hp 2 attack loses to 3 hp 1 defense on flat ground. Also kill a camel and an archer.
Turn 4: Get a freebie as Polynesia gives us an embassy.
Turn 5: Ethiopia builds the MoM. We start the Pyramids in Karakum.
Turn 6: Kill a LB, get a slave, kill a camel and get a promotion.
Turn 7: Tibet builds the oracle. We get drama. I do not trade yet. I want 1 more turn of war. Set research to Lit. We may want/need TGL.
Turn 8: Our plans for Angkor Wat go up in Smoke as the Iro start it. Time for peace. Peace and 10 gold gets us civil engineering. Drama gets us currency and 40 gold from Poly. Drama and 110 gold snag us mono from Iro. Abe won't give us squat for Drama. Oh well. Build Dalanzalagrad in the southern hills.
Turn 9: We can build the FP now. I have hooked up Iron, the champ age is over officially.
Turn 10: Start Water mill in Ta-Tu. It should finish (Whip?) then can do the Library Gl combo.

nice little war to gain silver and a tech. sorry LK, I left everything unmoved to give you the full decision whether

to start a war
where to send the settler
prioritise worker action depending on war (eg connect silver town first etc)

since I left it there, I must have forgotten about the scouts :(

by the way, there is a hill we could settle to gain wool as well. I suggest to carry out another war once we got our UU

690 BC (3) - We are beaten to Literature.

670 BC (4) - Still manage to get Republic for Literature and 30g from the Iroquois. No other trades available. Start research on Monasticism, as in my experience that gets ignored.

570 BC (9) - Polynesia declares on America.

Monasticism in one turn. Karakorum is building a library, could then go Great Library (no messages that it has been started). Crystal Palace is also available and could be built soon. Ta-Tu also has a library, but is building the Forbidden Palace at the moment. Of course, it is all up to debate. We do have two nice cities there, and we need to decide where to focus the wonders. Even though we put the Pyramids in Karakorum, I think Ta-Tu is the better spot overall. At the moment, Karakorum can't even grow past size eight.

Do we want to go back after America when we can, and if the Polynesians and Americans are still at war?

As the pictures show, we need to start building some settler-type units in our smaller cities. America already took a spot (albeit worthless) and is bringing another pioneer up.

Crystal Palace is also available and could be built soon

save

Pre-Turn
swap Almarikh to pioneer to claim the wool spot before someone else does
Karakorum won't even grow at the moment, Tatu is the better place for GL
MM TaTu for more shields, growth still in 1
swap Karakorum to academy so we can build The Academy as well
change Kazan to court since corruption is pretty bad

IT Karakorum academy -> The Academy
Almarikh grows and pioneer is ready
we get monasticism, dark ages in 5 next (we need to be able to trade techs of the new era)

1.530BC
TaTu grew and GL in 12, join 1 worker and build drops to 11
disband the ranger, done his job
monasticism to iroquois for barding and 39g
monasticsm to Polynesia for 130g
monasticism and 140g to America for horse breeding

IT there are 2 iroquois units approaching our territory, what do they want?

2.510BC
we could trade iron to Iroqouis, but I do not understand the trade route connection and we do not need a broken rep
if the trade route goes through America

IT a galley shows up and we meet Tibet

3. 490BC
Tibet has money and is up those 2 ancient techs as the rest

4 .470BC
GL now in 7 due to mined mountain

IT dark ages come in

5. 450BC
we better get GL, since we are down quite a few techs to all the AI's, only iroquois is trailing a little
nobody has stirrup, try to go for that tech hoping to get it before all AI's

IT Polynesia offers an embargo against America, for 160g we can't say no, can we?

6. 430BC
zzzz

7. 410BC
found mandalgovi to give us wool, border expansion give us tobacco as well, we have 3 lux now
potentially wool and olive oil (if we form a colony)

8. 390BC
sending out another pioneer to claim the hills all the way up north

IT we get The Academy

9.370BC
build a water mill in krakorum to get it above 30spt

10.350BC
it was right to go for stirrup since nobody has that yet, we can get some cash for that since my push for GL in TaTu pays
I would suggest to use the time now to start getting keshiks to beat the Americans one more time, we have some air to breath
with the GL
we should send workers down south to connect towns and improve land there

bed9350.jpg

Looks good. I sense a huge swarm of Keshiks, Probably 10+, and a quick dispatch of America.

since Karakorum won't grow much, we might as well found another town west at the coast to claim that fish out there? what you all think?
and we could get another town north of Hovd

Once we get crop rotation Karakorum will grow nicely.

I would not found the city as crop rotation will make Karakoum grow.

I believe i am up in this roster.
You guys keep incredibly fast pace in this game.
I am not sure when i get home tonight if i get there at all...
So if you want to keep going the way you are feel free to skip me.
If i am lucky i will be only be able to play tomorrow night, but probably not until saturday really.

ok ok you guys convinced me about Krakorum and growth, no extra city there ;)

Oh wow, I don't know why I wrote Crystal Palace. Let's see, the first one that becomes available is the Summer Palace, right? Anyway, one of the tourism producing extensions that can be built in the capital.

Am I missing something on the wonder builds? Are we going to get our GA next turn? I can't check the civilopedia at the moment.
