Bede04B-The Greasy Silver Spoon (C3C1.22)

One siggestion:

There are artillery units on top of mountain. I used it to bombard Palenque...
I don't think it is worth doing... Only one out of 10 arty's hits the target..
I reckon it is because of the landscape plus civil defence built...
You may want to try a different angle. It is the time to hit Maya's mainland.

I saw couple of transports coming our way and Maya's always land north of Babylon... If use arty 1st we have elite cavalry to kill those 1hp tanks and infantries... Some leader hunting doesn't hurt.
We can build another army after you take 3 south-western cities.

dman - That set of turns is a classic. One of the most amazing Civ reads I have read since SirPleb's HOF write up. A hearty BZ for a job well done!

I think now that most of Smoke's army is toast, this is now just a matter of time. I have it, although it may be a full 48.

Pre-flight – Once again I have to say that this gauntlet is a thing of beauty. One more city and we can afford another army. I’ll save the leader for that. Hey not only does Amoke lack oil, he also lacks iron.

IBT – Three bombers are shot down.

1. 1792 – Red-line everything I can hit with all our wonderful artillery.
@ Marad – Kill the three defenders with a single MA and build an army after it is captured.

@ Kisurra – Quickly run over the two defenders and capture the city.

@ Zabalam – Lose a MA and two are redlined as the western front is closed.

Start picking off all the redlined Mayans and get another leader. I use him to rush a library in one of our new cities for the boarder expansion.

@ Cempoala – Start consolidating the eastern front. Lose a MA, but take the city.

@ Cobá – Lose two MA, and take it.

In further clean up operations we get another leader. Another MA army.

IBT – A landing in our backyard. Fewer units cross into no man’s land.

2. 1794 - @ Bonampak – Lose a MA, take the city.

@ Tlatelolco – Lose three MA, a tough nut, but take it. Four bombers are destroyed.

Move artillery into position for Copan, MA’s into position for Tlacopan. (Is that like Triptopan in turkey?)

3. 1796 – Another fierce fight for Copan and the UN. We lose four MA killing the eight defenders. We also get a leader. He hurries a university.

@ Tlacopan – Lose an MA taking it.

Lose one our new bombers attacking the Mayan fleet. Our power curve has gone exponential.

4. 1798 – A Mayan Naval Task Force is within range of land. We redline all four vessels and sink one with a bomber.

IBT – Fission=>Space Flight

5. 1800 – Their sole source of uranium is on an Inca island without a harbor.

@ Calakmul – Bombard the three defenders to red then kill them. We’re now at 50% of the land. 55% of pop.

IBT – A Mayan destroyer attacks our new destroyer and redlines it. It ends up in Davey Jones’ locker.

6. 1802 – Four more vessels (two DD, two transports) go to the locker.

@ Chichén Itza – A long and bloody battle captures the city.

7. 1804 - @ Dzibilchaltun – Lose one MA taking the city.

I carefully steal Nuke Power.

8. 1806 - @ Tikal – Bombard and kill the five defenders.

@ Lazapa – Kill the two defenders and capture the city. The eastern front has now been consolidated to a southeastern front.

@ Piedras Negras – Lose a Mech Inf army and two MA taking the city.

9. 1808 – Maneuvering for the next two cities. The Mayan navy is now down to 19 DDs.

10. 1810 - @ Yaxchilán – Take the city with no loss.

@ Tulúm – No losses.

Get a leader mopping up. Another army.

@ Quiriguá – Lose two MAs, get a leader.

After Action – We’re at 59% of land. 70% of pop. You’re set up for a landing on Uranium island and assaults on the next two cities. Smoke is toast. Bede can lead us across the finish line. Thanks to all for an incredible game.

Superb set of turn...
I reckon Bede's will have last round to play so everybody will enjoy a little bit of warmongering...
Or should we go ahead with the initial plan for the space victory??? ;)

@Bugs: You didn't have use leader to rush library and university...
We have Internet and it gives research lab and culture in every city city we capture. I forgot that fact myself and at first was suprised to see just captured cities expanding borders on their own...

I guess it will be known in history books as the gauntlet rather than "corridor of death" :)

I knew that. I just was hoping to get expansion a bit faster. A RL gives 2 cpt. By adding a temple (2) and a library (3) I was hoping to get the second culture expansion faster.

Holy Modern Armor, Batfish.

Got it. Will have to play tonight....

:smug: :yeah:

I wanted to savor the experience so waited for a time when I could really enjoy it.

Delurks...

You wait for a classic SG to finish, and two come along on the same day? Hmm. Well played!

Neil.

Magnificient game!!! :goodjob:

From the only hope for space race victory to 30 turns domination blitz.
This was a truly classic game of its kind.

Thank you team for the great experience. I greatly enjoyed it. :)

:thanx:, handy and eldar for the kudos.

And a rousing finish! It took less than 25 turns to take Maya apart!

:salute: to d-man for the "Corridor of Death".

And "Well played, all" from TGOMTG.

The "Corridor of Death" was a classic. One of the best SGs I've had the pleasure to be a part of.

:salute: A hearty BZ to all my teammates.
