Beer, Wine and Spirits Review Thread

I was just pulling a bunch of names right outta my ass, couldnt think of any real drinks names, but you get the idea. :yeah:

Simple: Those who name them are thoroughly drunk.

You think the same is true for horse jockeys? if I was a munchkin of a man and had to wear that outfit and ride horses for a living, Id be messed up on some drug or other all the time too.

PS. sorry for threadjack. :)

Regional micro brewerys are the best IMO. Anything from North Coast Brewery in CA is good, my favorite being Red Seal Ale.

I tried Red Seal Ale a few weeks ago. It's a great beer for a long drinking session. I'll have to try to hit North Coast's brewpub next time I'm in North Cali.

Free, cold beer is also very good.

Good beer needs time to warm up above refrigerator temperature. 45F (7C) is ideal for most medium-bodied ales. Ever notice how the big American breweries (A-B, Miller, Coors) emphasize the coldness of their beers? It's because when crap beer is really cold, you don't notice how crappy it tastes.

I just recently bought my first bottle of Ardberg - single malt scotch whisky.

Oh, man - where should I start? Yes, it is really, really good. I almost went nuts when I took the first glass. Islay all the way.

Yeah, let's talk about Islay whiskeys - and what I've tried of those.
When someone mentions Islay, most people (who know their drink!) think of Lagavulin. It has the regular characteristics of Islay drinks: lots of peat and salty air. Okay, now I've gotta stop and get me a dram...

Okay. Lagavulin: peat and salt and a bit of smoke. Right, right. Now, ARDBERG: Darn! I can almost taste some ammonium chlorid in it (yep, the black salty candy we scandinavians eat all the time). It's like medicine for the sores and sinews and heart. It even tastes like medicine... okay, now you must be thinking I've lost it completely. Well, I think I have lost my whisky-heart to Ardberg.

It is a strong candidate for the finest Islay whisky. And that's saying a lot considering the company: Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Bowmore... heck, I almost could place Talisker in this group too! And they're all my favourites. Now there's this one added to the top bunch.

Well done, Ardberg
