Nothing really major, somethimes when I'm at the main screen it says my computer is below the specs.

Strange.

That didn't happen before and my comp is probably over the specs. This never happened in v1.0...

(all that it does it turn off worker animations and pigs, cows and etc animations and some more.)

the same thing here, but I don't like it. I am pretty sure I am over the specs too. Hmm.... I would like to know what to do.

Same happened to me after installing the new patch. However, I know the reason I got the popup -- my video card is poor, a Radeon 7200 with only 32MB.

Needless to say, I'm using the lowest graphic settings. But I am playing.

I bet the "below specs" is boilerplate that displays for everyone. The real question is why doesn't the package and manual state the correct minimum system specs? My sys is above what the package requires but it still doesn't work.

it automatically puts the graphics to low.

I have this problem too, but before the patch i played on medium just fine, and i want medium again! If i go to options and change it, then it has to restart, and the game automatically puts it back to low again.

Anyone know a way around it?

There is a fix on the forum. You should change the civ.ini file where it says checkminimum (something) to 0 instead of 1.
I dont have a link to the thread but check it out before you do anything cause my memory is bad:)

Ive got a:

p4: 2ghz
512memory.
Geforce 4 64 mbit.

U think i will be able to run the game? Not play on highest but just PLAY?

Go to CivilizationIV.ini look for "Don't show minimum specification warnings
HideMinSpecWarning = 0". Change 0 to 1. That will get rid of the annoying error message but I'm not sure if it still changes your settings as I never raise mine above low anyway.

Ruelah: You should be able to run on low gfx settings but will probably need to upgrade ram to run a larger map without huge slowdowns

EDIT: Just tested on my game, it doesn't change graphics settings with the above changes.

Running the game on a compaq
P4, 2ghz with 256MB ram and Intel onboard graphics.

Not supprized I get the "Civ4 will not run on this hardware set-up". But it does. :D

I wouldn't raise mine above minimum if it werent for the little battle animations that i enjoy. Ohwell, guess Im gonna have to live with it.
