I honestly don't know what the right answer is on this. We're talking not fastest potential win time, but most likely to win, right? Probably Poland ...?

I voted Korea because their UA is, in my mind, slightly better than Babylon or Poland's, and for CV and SV running specialists is obviously key. And they can tech fast so can pull off late Dominations easily. Since we're going for consistency and not speed, I'd take Korea, beating Babylon by a whisker cuz of CVs.

Had to go with Babylon after looking at my wins. It is easier to win with tech than social policies. Ironically my highest scoring game is with Russia. I wish I remembered the game because I have no idea what I did to score so well. I have had games I have ended 50 turns faster and games I have won later conquering every last city but still can't beat that score.

I voted other cos I've only won on Deity once(actually 3 playing the same map) with the Inca on the DCL. Poland seems a good choice as you can be guaranteed to open Rationalism the turn you enter the Renaissance era.

where can you see these statistics about previous games?

edit : I voted Poland, although I have easy time with Greece too, still with Poland you can win on starts which I'd reroll with any other civ

I have to say that if the Inca start next to a reasonable number of mountains, they are God-tier and so rocksolid they beat out all these guys, but unfortunately I've started on maps where I get a token 3-mountain range and that's it.

But if you get enough of a mountain start (like the recent Deity challenge post) -- man, 4+ cities, all next to mountains, okay growth and insane production, what's not to love?!

Venice can just crush diplo victory but defence can be hard.

Otherwise, Inca, babylon and Korea are all top.
Personally I prefer the Inca because I love the hill movement.

Voted other, cause as many others on this thread I consider Inca to be the best (super growth gives a lot more science in the long run and also gives huge production + starting bias usually gives great defensive terrain).

Deity games tend to be most contentious in the first 140 turns -> I'd pick someone I was confident could survive the opening stages while leveraging some economic advantage: Attila is nearly that guy. Best early fighter + very solid economic boost. I'd like to vote for him, but:

Nebuchadnezzar is better. Beakers. Bowmen.

A fair point.

I would point out that Venice can acquire a CS almost on demand complete with 4 or 5 military units. I bought one on deity circa t72 with Horsemen and comp-bows which I did not even have tech for.

I either win or lose deity games in the first 60 turns; I vote for Ethiopia in that they can defend more easily in the early game than other civs, plus guaranteed religion is help in all aspects from Diplomacy, Happiness, Gold.

Ethiopia isn't the fast win civ like Korea, Babs, Poland but they are more dependable than any other civ at getting a win.

As an aside what is the fastest time you or the AI hit ideologies? I had the Iroquois get 3 factories up by t142 last night.

Poland's UA can give you policies to boost your science and get free tech. Babylon is good for science victory or domination through scientific progress, but diplomacy and culture are not it's strongest suits. Meanwhile, Poland is capable of winning anything equally well. Poland is a tier above top-tier civs. :D

However, I have the most deity wins with Venice. Granted, I never play Pangaea with Venice... but... it's so easy to become the world leader when you can literally buy your way through everything. I also might have been lucky to never spawn next to Shaka. However, Venice is not the best for conquest or science. Maybe CV if you've got godly production and 2-3 cargo ships early enough. Hencewhy they are not the best overall.

Venice isn't horrible at domination games, you can GMOV but a grab bag of military units early to augment a few archers plus their UU is my favorite on Continents or islands maps.
