Best For Space Race?

just wondering everyones opinion on best civ for space race...(not PTW just normal Civ3)

scientific, industrial, & expansionist all look good for space race ......i like the economic side of this game so i dont want to attack anyone, stay on the defensive. which would be my best bet...persia(ind/sci) russia(sci/exp) or america(exp/ind)

any help is very appreciated!

Persia is definitely the easiest civ for peaceful building and research. Expansionist can be nice on large maps, but it requires a lot of skill to use its full potential. With industrious workers and 3 free techs you can't go wrong.

Of course, it's tempting to Immortal rush your neighbor and build the FP in their land for double research power...

I use to play Egypts for a spacerace win. Religious is good for quick building up temples, cathedrals and colosseums to expand your borders very quick. But I only play on standard maps, as my Comp is too old for Huge maps :'( so Expansionist is not very usefull for me anyway.

Persia is the best civ for a SS victory. Not only do you get the benefits of the scientific attribute (free techs, cheap buildings) but you also get a killer UU which allows you to stake out a sizeable piece of land for your industrious workers to improve.
