Best online site for free texting?

Texting is great cause you don't have to actually talk to people you don't really feel like talking to. Probably is I have to pay 3cents a text from my phone (and it takes forever selecting the letters). I've tried a couple free texting sites but on occasion people have said they never got my text.

Any recommendations you've found successful every time?

I usually use Skype if I use my computer, not free though.

Dunno about US carriers, but normally carriers will have an area on their site to send free texts to their customers - you can also send texts via email in the form phonenumber@carriertextingaddress.com

easiest way to determine that is to text your email from your phone, that will tell you exactly what it is. I would think that you'd be able to go to the carrier's website and text that way, I know you can from sprint because I've done that with our oncall people.

Yeah, it depends on the carrier, like Turner says.

Looks like their email-to-text addresses are in the format mobile#@message.Alltel.com

If you have gmail, it lets you send free texts to your contacts (though they have to agree to it I believe) although only in the US.

You could just cough up the 3 cents you cheap bastard! It costs 10-12p per text here. They literally mint money from people texting constantly.
