What do you think are the best songs ever? They can be from any genre of music. I'd have to say my favorites are as follows:

Paradise City, Welcome to the Jungle, Civil War, You Could Be Mine, & Knockin' on Heavens Door: Guns'N'Roses

The Devil Went Down To Georgia, Long Haired Country Boy, & Still in Saigon: Charlie Daniels

Cocaine: Eric Clapton

1 Bourbon, 1 Scotch, and 1 Beer & I Drink Alone: George Thorogood

All Along the Watch Towers: Jimi Hendrix

Girls, Girls, Girls & Dr. Feelgood: Motley Crue

Sweet Home Alabama, Gimme 3 Steps & Red, White, and Blue: Lynyrd Skynyrd

Immigrant Song: Led Zeppelin

Sorry if the list was a little long. But this is an extremely condensed version.

No particular order:

1.Layla-Eric Claprton.
2. The End-the doors.
3. Bohemian Rhapsody-Queen.
4. Fairytale of New York-Pogues & Kirsty McColl
5. Whiskey in the Jar-Thin Lizzy.
6. The Last Time-Rollin Stones.
7. Wish You Were Here-Pink Floyd.
8. Sound of Silence-Simon and Garfunkel
9. Brothers In Arms/Sultans of Swing-Dire Straits.
10. Stairway to Heaven-Led Zep.

Hmm... I don't know, I have probably listened to too many songs to choose a "best song" list...
Same here.

I'd take the top ten from my "most played" list in WinAmp, but up turns the curse of albums - the top ten is entirely occupied by tracks from Radiohead's OK Computer.

We've been through this before, recently.

1. Layla - Eric Clapton
2. Gimme Shelter - Rolling Stones
3. Soul to Squeeze - Red Hot Chili Peppers
4. Dance - Van Halen
More...but no time to think about it

Hmm... my fave songs.

Stairway
Bohemian Rhapsody
Comfortably Numb
Paranoid Android

I guess I like the long epics.

Tupac - Unconditional Love, Late Night, Me Against the World, Keep Your Head Up, To Live and Die in L.A.
Led Zeppelin - Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, Immigrant Song
Beatles - Back in the U.S.S.R., Hey Jude, Penny Lane, Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby, Come Together, Imagine
Rick James - Mary Jane, Give It to Me
Prince - When Doves Cry, The Most Beautiful Girl in the World
Earth, Wind & Fire - September, Shining Star, Let's Groove
Marvin Gaye - Mercy, Mercy Me, Sexual Healing, Let's Get It On
Bob Marley - I Shot the Sheriff; Get Up, Stand Up; Iron, Lion, Zion

Those are some good ones that I like a lot. There are too many for me to list, though. I probably have 100 songs that I really like. I wouldn't want to choose just one.

I wonder, considering all the songs run into each other I could consider the entire album Scenes from a Memory by Dream Theater to be one song, and as such it would be the greatest song of all time.

here come da punk

London Calling- the clash
Anarchy in the U.K- The sex pistols
Rock and Roll High School- The Ramones

there go the father bands of punk

I have a troubling affinity for "Midnight Train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips (I think), other than that, there're far too many to list.

1. Pearl Jam - Alive
2. AFI - This Celluloid Dream
3. Guns n' Roses - Sweet Child o' Mine

Oh, and Hubert Parry's Jerusalem, just because it's so fun to bellow at the top of one's lungs.

One Night in Bangkok by Head Murray (or is it Murray Head)

That would be the best song ever, but I have many others that could spend a really really long time thinking about and writing down, so I'll just leave it at that.
