Better BAT AI

Better BAT AI 2.1 has been released.

It includes a number of fixes and some new content.

I'm taking a break from Civ and modding for a while, but I'll still check in occasionally for those with issues. Note that I will not be advising people on how to take stuff out of the mod anymore. I've been besieged by requests on "How do I remove this?" lately. The mod is what it is, and that's how it was released. If you don't like a certain component, they're (mostly) pretty easy to mod out. Modding is a good skill to know to improve your game anyway.

Enjoy!

Has anyone ever merged a civ into BetterBat?
I have been trying to add Duminos created civs into BetterBat.

So far I can get the game running, with a new civ, but as soon as I try to build a city with the first settler the game crashes.

Any thoughts?

I've added many civs to BBATAI. The only problem is the diplo text for me. I haven't tried one of Dumanios' civs, but I'll check it out when I get back from holiday next week. Which one are you using?

Hello,

I just start playing Civ IV and I kind love this game already. I want, after seeing a few video (quil18) to install better BAT AI which sounds very helpful.

I have a steam version of Civ IV and warlord / BTS.

I have installed Better BAT AI 2.1 via exe, modify the path of the shortcut (steam version must have a space in the path..), it loads, but no text is shown. The mod is loaded because when i launch a game i see the bat screen splah and i see the update in the interface. But still no text.. pretty annoying!

I tryed of course, uninstall and reinstall.. still the same. I choose the basic options, in user folder.

Thanks for your help!

Moderator Action: Merged as requested.

Is the source code for 2.1 available? I haven't found anything on the sourceforge server...

Not yet. I'll be posting it there soon.

I asked to moderators to move this post to the BBATAI thread as is doesn't belong in the BUG forum.

Are you still having the problem?

Great, thanks a lot!

Posted. I posted the entire folder including solution files and binaries. It will make it easier to work with I think, though the file is larger.

Have fun.

To spice up my game, I wanted to merge the following 2 mods into my install of Better Bat AI:

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=12576498 - Regicide

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=494561 - Enhanced Great People (only some of the abilities though)

I think I have the xml edits figured out and I thought I was doing okay with the python until I found out that each of these mods edit the CvEventManager.py file. I went poking around in my Better BAT AI file and see now that BUG apparently changes the way that events are handled and recommends not editing the CvEventManager file.

I am not sure what to do from here, do I go ahead and edit the CvEventManager file anyway?

Any and all help is appreciated (and I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask, it just seemed to be the most fitting since this is the modpack I want to add these mods to)

EDIT: Removed two of the mods I was requesting help to figure out how to merge since those may be the messiest to try and do. First and foremost, I would love to make the regicide compatible, thats really the big one to me

I also seem to be having a problem making my edits to buildings stick with this particular mod, I am not sure what I am doing wrong as my modifications are working in the base game (I edited the game files directly and kept backups elsewhere rather than load as a mod).

[EDIT] Solved it myself, for some reason I didn't think to check the modules folder within Better Bat AI. In the Movie Mod module folder, there is a modified civ4buildinginfos file that was being loaded after my edited one. Merging the differences now, all is working great =)

By the way, aside from the prechop and whip overflow notification functionality in this mod, the biggest reason I keep playing it is because of Lemon's Handy Hints, they always bring a smile to my face =) Thank you Lemon for everything youve put into this work!

For what you want to do, you can safely edit the CvEventManager.py file. Platyping handles the file quite differently from BUG so you'll have to edit it to make Regicide work. Just add Platy's code from the file to the one in BBATAI and you should be fine.

I'm glad you like the mod. Let me know how your merge works out. :)

I have a small question regarding this mod.
When in the city screen, next to buildings in the building list, where there should be building yields, I only have a small "+" (only next to buildings that have any yields), and can see the yields when hovering over the building. This is not the case in normal BUG mod, where the yields display next to buildings. No option seems to change this.
Any ideas why it is like this/how to change it?

It's because of the picture buttons on the left side of the building list. To avoid it being too cluttered, I opted for the information to be in a hover.

It's not possible to change unless you know how to program in Python. Sorry.

Are you still having the problem?

I'm having this problem myself and I can confirm that it only happens on a non-english language setting.

I tried to look into this myself, but I didn't spot anything noticeable in the log files.
Is there some hidden setting that enables more verbose logging?
