Better Know Your Hexes

This game does not, however, have a 1 unit per tile rule.

There was an old Amiga wargame, "Blitzkrieg at the Ardennes" that had hexes, and a 3 units per hex maximum. It also didn't allow moving past enemy units (IIRC) like Civ1. It had bombardment at range and by air, fuel supply lines, and damaged units retreating if possible, otherwise destroyed by crossfire.

I'm all for hexes and the more rational movement options they bring. It always struck me as odd that Civ uses squares.

I certainly approve of the limit to number of units per hex, and the extra layer of strategy and tactics. I guess the limit was set at 1 after a ceratin degree of testing and calculation. The SOD seemed terribly unrealistic. A massed horde of low tech units could be funnelled into a narrow pass now by a superior general, and picked off one after another, just like real life.

Let's see if I can steal a march on my enemies, hold the line, and head them off at the pass! :)
