Biology Bug?

According to the Civilopedia, Biology is supposed to give +1 food per farm. This is not occurring...why not?

Maybe the farms aren't connected to fresh water? In that case, they don't give their standard +1 food even with civil service known, I think, so the food you think comes from the farm comes from biology instead?

For me biology does add +1 food but only to existing farms. Any new farms I make don't get the bonus.

For me, I just learned civil service, but I still cannot make farms chained to other farms next to a lake. The worker ability remains "greyed" out, although the "red" message saying "requires civil service" is now gone

The only thing I can think of, is that I never bothered to learn archery (due to early special unit) or horsemanship (due to no local horse sources early). Does the effect of Irrigation (or Biology perhaps) require more techs than just the one listed?

For example, in another game, I couldnt learn philosophy until I learnt meditation - fair enough, but the lines dont show the direct requirement. Could something like that be happening with irrigation/biology effects?

Look at the right upper corner of "philosophy", there you see the requirements
for the tech.

I finally found one reference (out of a bunch!) that states that irrigated farms get +1 food. So Kemal has it correct. This even means that should you connect up the irrigation, the farm will instantly produce more food. I am not sure, but I believe that if you disconnect the fresh water source (by changing a critical tile) the farms will remain before biology but will still not get the +1 food.

Interesting. Probably also why you can't seem to use civil service to build onwards from Wheat farms that aren't connected to fresh water (tiles).
