Blind leading the blind *Sponsered by: Bad decisions and generally bad planning*

:salute:

Nice finish, right on time.

:hatsoff:

top job guys.
will lurk your DG game.
i would apply for taht open slot, but the pace is likely to be too fast for me with all those SG's of mine.
but next week will be deicated to going up to DG rank.

Here's some more info and suggestions for the upcoming Blind DG game.

The map settings :
Standard map,archipelago,60% water,roaming barbarians.
Climate : wet.
Temperature : warm or temperate.
Age : 5 billion years.

Default victory conditions,no respawn,no culturally linked start location.

An archipelago map is less predictable,it can be a streched pangaea, continents shared with other civs or large islands
where you start alone.

The civ will be an Agricultural civ.
(The Incas and Sumerians are out,we've played those traits.)
My choices :
1. Aztecs (cheaper barracks + harbours, our GA is controllable)
2. Celts (short anarchy and more than 1 revolution is optional)
3. Iroquois (start with Alphabet + UU)
4. Mayas (industrious)
5. Dutch (cheap harbours + also start with Alphabet)

It did some try outs and I was a bit shocked,so I'm willing to
kick out a few AIs to get some more space/air in the beginning.
(See the pics.)

Worse situation.

Ideal situation (free town + free settler)

Iroquois, Celts or the Dutch is fine with me. The Aztec's have a useless trait in militaristic, which is something we can live without imo.

Are we going with those starts that you've shown?

It would probably be better if you didn't pick an agri civ as an opponent too. Being our first attempt on DG, it wouldn't do us any favours having a monster civ from the off.

The jaguar warrior is a good scout too.Somehow I always seem to do
well as a militaristic civ.

No,but the Inca start is definite tempting.

The expensionist trait has that problem too.
In another try-out the Hittites had already 3 towns while I was
about finishing (turn 9) my second warrior.
I don't know if it is recommendable to chose the AI opponents.

Isn't this going to be on a arch? Expansionist is worthless on an arch. IMO if you're going to chose traits for the AI I think expansionist and military are the best to play against.

I like the Iroquois. Solid traits but early UU not so effective on a arch so wouldn't be so useful.
Just played both Celts in SGOTM6. Love that UU! Pretty solid traits. Religious is not so bad at higher levels. Cheap temples for border expansion.
Just played Dutch in SW04 and again great UU at the right time. Those SM's will help you up to almost infantry.

You will not out expand the AI on DG early. Get the worker and settler factories rolling and you'll catch up.

Tatran, if you make the decision on which civ we'll go, game settings and whether to go with random opponents (or not), then we can start to discuss the more important things in life. I don't think anyone will agree 100% on what civ to choose. As long as we're argi, then I don't mind. Surprise us!

When you finalise your decision, start a thread and then we'll roll some starts, something i'll help out with if you wish. There's nothing worse than sitting for hours finding 4-5 decent starting locations.

Just to make sure we think alike here, the real action will not start with us knowing anything about our surroundings but the info from the 4000BC save, right? What I mean is, we will not be able to choose from examples like the ones in Tat's post. Do we agree?
Arch is fine :goodjob:
Opponents I would like to be random even if it makes it a wee bit harder to plan actions. If we do want to taylor AI then exp/mil seems best for them and seafaring/agri is out.
I keep on advocating Celts but will of course play whatever. Maybe we should discuss prefered VC's before we decide on civ? That would make it (a) easier to choose appropriate traits/UU's and (b) also help our strategy planning. With the Ruskies it was like "do everything and see what happens". Now we may benefit from a more focused approach. Russians turned out to be a gung-ho military affair which was a lot of fun and a new experience for me. Tat's a builder by nature so maybe Space would be the way to go. Me I have never tried a 100 000K but would like to. Maybe aiming for Diplo would be smartest as I is regarded the "easiest" way. Never tried that either so I couldn't tell.
