Blue Screen at start up and no Choice Box

Hey, I have been reading countless posts and I can't seem to find anything that says what is wrong and what has to be done.


I install the game and it seems to be working fine... Then when I launch the game it starts with a blue screen. I'm guessing a movie / intro type scene is suppose to play but it doesn't. Meanwhile, I can still hear the music.

Next, it gets to a screen in which says "Civiliazation IV" at the top, with an earthlike background... Moving clouds, night and day, lights comming on and off.
But there are no options! It just has the background graphic. Where the options should be I can still click. As in, I can still click the options, I just can't see them!!!! D:

And after clicking tons of stuff it ends up freezing on me... What do I do? D:

I appreciate any assistance that can be given.

I have the exact same problem! It´s vary weird. If you manage to solve this problem please let me know.

I am having the same problem. I have un-installed and tried again, but the same thing still happens. Any help would be appreciaed.

I am also experiencing the same problem. Patching to 1.52 at the moment, I'll see what the does.

After Patching to 1.52 the game loaded fine.

I have tried downloading the patch three different times, from three different sources. Each time a message comes up saying the file is invalid or corrupt. Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I think I might just return this game and get something else.
