Booga games diar..rhea

Total Map Tiles vary from Map Type to Map Type ... check it out! :)

I think you are plain wrong (nothing personal :}).. check it out ! :mischief:

Game13, #14110, score 28969 was submitted. [emperor game]
The war was more than 100 turns long... I discovered I don't have to make mobile artillery suicide if I control the skies and can make bombers..
In short the war was a bit . .. .. .. .ed up, and I was also overcaucious in my new cities placement... eventually, unluckily, 130 turns or so b4 the end, a city revolted (it was 46% mine already.. with 2 sushi, potentially 4).
I got degraded sushi-wize and didn't feel rdy 4 another war.
So, it was a ... nice game, not great at all., but a number 1 if the crash will b accepted.

Booga out, for immortal!

You are both correct!!
Shame on me if my name ain't tree..
Thank you very much for that link!!

I will huff and puff and merge the data into info into decision into action into a better game!! @@

3 questions that still bug me :
1. Do the AI get random events? If so, do they rely on them (try to make 'em happen)?
2. Does a great artist give culture to the city only or also to the tiles surrounding it??
3. Is there any importance to eras except in random events occurance?

Shall you live long! (prosper if you like, but I don't recommend it and can't be held responsible)

Bowing ,
Booga.

1: yes they get some random events, and no I don't think they make any efforts (if this notion makes sense for an AI) towards them. I guess they try to get the quests done, though, but I'm not even sure of that.
2: yes the GA gives culture to the tiles around. Culture mechanism is a bit complicated though, so you get better results if you run 100% culture when you culture bomb. There are threds or articles in the strategy guides about this.
3: you can start the game in another era. So yes there is some kind of importance to them. They also do change the look of the cities/workers/...

1. Yes, the AI also get random events; you should be informed of their events during the game
Whether they try to make them happen, I don't know ...

2. It gives Culture to the city and the surrounding tiles. Culture is quite complicated, IMHO, but there's an article in the War Academy!

3. AFAIK, they aren't important

EDIT: Cross-Post with cabert; we both seem to quite agree :)

thanks!

I know about the article, and am quite experienced in culture... except the artists I never had to put in until now.

I don't use random events yet since I haven't mapped them out and decided if they are good 4 me, that's why I don't see any rndom events ;)

Booga found out he needed to synchronize the ActionPerformed method in his monopoly software!! One more bug solved I hope..
Booga happy,
Booga out.

Ok then... I've immortalized myself ;)

Game 13.1 failed becuase I thought that a machine gun and 3 infantry are enough for a city, even if it is my capital... they went and got my cap.
I had to abort even after taking it in the same turn, due to other military experience I gained and a few other fkups..

Game 14, #14197, score 36705 was submitted. [immortal game]
It was not such a great start (I did take 2 Indian cities..), and the AI was researching even faster than the game before.
He did stonehenge, great wall, and oracle if I remember correctly.
Later I almost got a heart attack racing for redentor and the UN.
Had he taken the UN the game was over.
He didn't.
I had to steal radio to keep up, and rely on future espionage to bring me to normal.
He did the Eiffel, hollywood, broadway and rocknroll. I could stand that, since after all the F.T. will solve them, and I'm not in need of culture.
They built them like crazy. I didn't stand a chance, nor did I yet have an engineer for the mining corporation.
The only thing that really hurt me personally is that they built Cristo Redentor.
It hurt me like... well... only 1 time of 7 (!) turns of anarchy after the war.

I razed him except 1 city I keep before I make peace, give him a new city, and start a second war to eliminate the former city (now he has only my religion ;) )
I took all his sushi except 1, since that would be triggering domination.
9 sushi total.
I had 3 coal until about 50 turns after the war. Then the 4th came.
About 40 turns to end of game appeared the 5th :| y always near the end?!
The great people weren't so great for me, and I was barely able to happily start the 6th GA (5 great people), but no 7th.
Future technology 138 was in research on January 2050.

My mind is somewhere between a jelly and a marshmelo.
I'm going to play some scenario or perhaps just go nuts for a day.
Then, I will probably start a Deity game :)

On a more personal note, I am OCPD (personaly type/disorder).
The defenition is like reading my ethos.. I'm sure some civvers can fit in the category :}

Booga. Freak of mother (nature).

Game 15, #14269, score 43218 was submitted. [Deity game]

Yes, it ain't a number 1 :(
102 points were missing for me to pass WastinTime.

Saying that, I wanna say I'm still somewhere on my learning curve!
It ain't finished until the dwarf from Teheran drops the bomb!!

I have an important question :
Is there SOME way to reduce inflation in any way?
At end game, it is a horrible factor.

I like jet fighters.
I like birds.
Couldn't they just get along? ;)

P.S: I'll huff and puff and work this setting until WastinTime is passed :)

could be long
there is no good way to reduce inflation.
There are lots of ways to earn more money :p

"no good way"... meaning there is SOME way?

I notice that the size of the continents plays a big role.
In game 15, I had 22 cities on my 62% and he had 9 on his 38%.
In my current game (which will probably not be the best), I have 52%..
I have only 17 cities, and the AI has 13.. quite a difference.
I also am making more towns for my science to go faster, but I know that I'll make em all farms when I reach about F.T.30 ;)
I continue this game anyways as a challenge..

Q: If I destroy the UN.. do all the descisions already passed go to the trash, or do their effects persist? :mischief:

Good question. I don't think I have ever been in that situation.

thanks people.. knowledge is power!
I'm learning a lot playing vs a mad deity AI...
Who do u prefer to play against on deity?
I play vs the arabs, but lately I wish they would make only a million troops instead of 10 million... so I'm thinking about alternatives.
I also destroy Ghandi each game, so he can't be reused.. (he has fast workers who... work fast on cvities I later take ;) )

I play vs the arabs, but lately I wish they would make only a million troops instead of 10 million... so I'm thinking about alternatives

Well, there's no 2nd Gandhi :(

But those who only 'sometimes' train units are Asoka, Lizzy, Fred, Hatty, Qin, Ramesses and Roosevelt.

Saladin 'often' trains units; so there are still a bunch of Leaders who train units 'moderately often' ...

@chris : true. However, I've chosen them also because of other factors.. like not building world wonders often and not being aggressive and not having courage... I also noted espionage, but espionage may be the least of my problems..

@cabert : If I ever try that, I'll find a map where they r both on the same continent - away from me ;)
BTW, is "big mouth" your nic because of your alienated nature, like in "the smiths" song "big mouth strikes again, and I've got no right to claim my place in the human race" ??
That's the only thing I can think of when I see it (the other being just a man who can't ever shut up ;) )

=============

I'll try some more with the Arabs (and Ghandi) since I have mapfinder maps still.
The civving pace has been slowed in the last few days, since my mom had an operation yesterday.. all is ok, except my mental state, ofcourse....

I also checked out civ4-colonization price here in Israel.. 219 shekels - that's more than 50 USD. ok, not now, but someday I say!
Booga out.

I think... I have a game!
The main thing is that the AI has only 40% territory, so he can't go entilrely mad on all, and this time I'm catching up real good. :)
I must go sleep now , but I'm on 1000AD, and the bastard has democracy for 3-4 turns (emancipation).
I'm used to be emanci-spitted on when fighting a deity, so I'm only 7 turns away from democracy myself.
I have 17 cities, Saladin has 10.
He did the Oracle, and also University of sankore, both were done much too soon for me, but most of the rest if mine.
Oh.. also the parthenon was done by him while I was about 1/3 the way to build it.

But all in all, this game is gonna be a big maggot, if only I'll have enough coal and if he has enough sushi (I was still busy defending and researching to send a ship, but I plan on it soon as democracy is unveiled.)
I got about 5-6 sushi I think. I hope he has a mega fish city I can hook on later ;)
I go do dirty deeds to my beloved bed.
bye
cya
Booga aaaaaaa aaa a

That game turned a miss just now :(
They had too much military..
I dropped 10 transports on a hill near a city.. it was 1 unit short :{
They were massacred later on, and I didn't have flight yet.
I also should have produced more, but was a bit underestimating him..

So, another try to waste.
Me smarter ;)

Sometimes I feel so stupid...
I was fighting the Arabs on deity... they are PROTECTIVE, and taking them militarily is a nightmare.

I switched to the Americans instead of Arabs (and India anyway).
After a few starts I found a very nice game.
57.5% continent, Americans destroyed, and I'm 10-15 turns away from Ghadni on research - I may still get Phisics first!
I have West Point, and almost all the wonders (besides Oracle that was done before me, and some culture wonders).

This game will have no way to slip away from me.
As soon as I get RailRoad, my Engineer will do his mining corporation, machine guns will start popping, and the game will be mine!

"Consequences shmonsequences, as long as I'm rich" (Daffy duck)

Game 16, #14473, score 48725 was submitted. [Deity game]

What a great day for Booga :)
A monuMENTAL game which will be a number 1 on deity when published.

I will hereby detail the main crossroads of the game as I see them, for any1 who may b interested :

My mapfinder found maps with stone and fish, since I need stone and want at least 1 fish resource to boost the capital, whom I want on the coast.
Domination limit (72%) turned out 221 tiles, 57.5% of them were my continent.
The Americans are on my continent, and Ghandi is on the other continent, which also has 2 small islands near it. ;)

The first thing is to research fishing and work on barracks.
When fishing tech is complete, I get a workboat and later return to the barracks.
I grew the city to size 4-5, then started to max production.
About then the barracks is complete and the game is on -
Every few turns a chiququa appears (can't spell that unit! I call it qq..),
and when I get 6 qq (all upgraded against archery), I start my move towards the Americans.

Had they built their cities on more hills or had iron or horse, I had no chance.
If that had happened, I would ofcourse try another mapfinder save until they had only archers :}

But, we are talking about the game that worked -
City by city they fell, it wasn't very hard :)
Surprisingly, I fought just enough to get a great general and have a level 6 unit for West Point later on.
I think I was left with 4 cities, perhaps 5, when the Americans were destroyed and I was free in my continent to build the Pyramids and Greatlighthouse ASAP.

I did not know how good the game was going to be, so I didn't document so much. The 1000AD save was ofcourse submitted for your delight.

I generally expanded over my continent, which had 7 sushi.
The other continent turned out to have only 4 more.

Important to note that he did emancipation very soon, and that I had just enough happyness so it won't hurt me too bad, only sometimes needing a small push of culture % to help.
I ended up teching as I needed instead of chasing democracy from far behind.

He could have won this game unless he made the usual stupid decision - he went for cultural victory.
He had all religions except budahism, and me only with budahism.
World wonders I wanted went great (except Oracle and Notre Dam).

At turn 618, I finally get Ghandi in techs (only because he slowed down to do more culture I guess) - he did communism, and I finished Phisics first to get the great scientist.
I used him for the first academy although I cursed myself for this later when I waited 20 turns to make Alum Co with no scientist ;)

I reached railroad and assembly line and built Mining Co as soon as I had railroad.
I mass upgraded some of my defenders, and the upgraded qq who survived the war to be my attacking infantry.
I did westpoint ASAP and popped infantries like crazy, some unupgraded transports and 1 unupgraded destroyer, and went for war about 20 turns before Ghandi could have his cultural victory.
Important to note I had NO COAL on my 57.5 percent continent at this stage, only oil.
However, they had 1 island with coal, and 2 on their continent.

At turn 683 I declared war.
I fought Saladin for too long. Ghandi was a cheese ready to be slashed.
He had frigates, I had transports and destroyers.
He had rifleman and cavalry, I had machine guns and infantry.
Added a few cannons for each city, and it was easy.
I successfully retained representation all war long..
Only a small amount of unhappyness was in existance, and when that grew, so was my culture % up to 20-30% the last few turns of the war.

The war lasted 39 turns, ending in turn 722, razing 6 cities and capturing 4 if I remember correctly :)
They built a new city during the war which became their only city standing after the war.
I immediately started a rebuild effort on the continent to create my cities, and their cities so not to ever get to domination, and decide for them the city placement and religion.(create, put a missionary, liberate).
Their espionage was still strong vs mine at that point, and there have been some global warmings, but that's life.
I got a huge bonus with the conquest of the 2 islands - they were the place where 3 religions were founded !
I popped missionarries of all 3 religions to all my cities, and used 2 prophets to build the unique religion buildings (1 was already there).
I plannded the extra prophets for future G.A. but this was better :)

Positioning of the cities was good, but at some point I knew a correction war might come over domination limit.
For Some turns I had 11 sushi, which are all the map can give (didn't start Sushi Co yet), but for most of the game I'll have 10 after some Indian city expands.

At turn 749 I finished the UN.
From memory, Sushi Co was started by about 10-20 turns later
At turn 832 I finally get my great scientist. Alum Co is popped ASAP to replace mining in most cities (except the West point city called War1, and cities without all buildings yet).

At turn 845 I finished Future Tech. 1
At turn 853 I finished Future Tech. 2
At turn 859 I finished Future Tech. 3
At turn 897 I finished Future Tech. 10
At turn 937 I can finally adopt caste system :)
Almost no unhappiness left even when Ghandi in emancipation.

At turn 975, I start a second war over a fish they took. I raze a city and make peace in 2-3 turns.

At turn 1029, I have fully sushi-grown happy cities, completed all remaining science except computers and robotics, and reached F.T. 40.

At turn 1082 I start my 6th+7th G.A !!
Hoping to get 1 scientist and 1 merchand I started the 6th.
3 turns from it's finish I had them both :))

Meanwhile, another coal is visible on THEIR territory.
That makes me owner of 3 out of 4 coals :{

At turn 1116 a coal is finally popped on MY territory.
Now I have 4 of 5.

At turn 1127, one of their cities futher expands.
I expected this, but thought I lose 1 sushi, and was "only" upset about it yet.
When the expansion occured, I found myself losing the fish AND 1 coal..
That made booga very mad.
It was 7AM Israel time.
I began to contemplate the situation, and after 1 hour (!!) of deep thoughts and computations decided my move -

I was going to take their capital from sea, and stay there to gain both coal and the 1 lost sushi to make it 10/11 sushi instead of 9/11 sushi..
(1 shushi was lost forever in another city..)
Problem with taking that city was that I would pass the domination limit by a few tiles.
The solution I used was to found a city on my space near the south end of the continent, budha it and let it expand to size 2.
When it does, it takes a few tiles. Then I make my move and take their capital.
And so I did.
Exactly 20 turns I lived without those resources and with 24 cities.

At turn 1147 I declared a third war and took their capital.
Peace took a few turns to achieve.

From this point until turn 1414 (= 267 turns) my territory will be constant.
I will have 220 tiles. (I can have 221, but not 222 ;) ).

Now I have 10 out of 11 sushi and 5 (!) coal.
My science rate was nearing 3 turns per F.T., and was about to stabilize there (not grow, mainly due to inflation)

At turn 1228 I finished Future Tech. 100.

At turn 1252, I have 11 academies and adopt free religion instead of popping great people.
With free religion, I can do computers and robotics.

At turn 1291, I have 12 academies, and have completed ALL science up to and including F.T. 120.
From here on, for 89 turns nothing much happens (except espionage and the rise of inflation)

At turn 1380, a further coal (6th!! all mine!!) appears on my continent.
That's y I don't do windmills much ;)

At turn 1414, an Indian city culture takes one of my cities, with some possibility of revolt. I did all I can to minimize the percentage and max culture there before, but luck was not on my side, and that city will be in revolt (but never switch) for more than half the remaining (86) turns.
When it is in revolt, I temporarily lose the sushi.

At turn 1447, the same thing "happens" to another city, (small city with forbidden palace) but this time I lose 1 coal permanently (I'll have 5/6 from here on), and the city may enter revolt sometimes (higher here).

At turn 1449 I finished Future Tech. 175.
At turn 1474, the forbiden palace city has revolted!! I lose a very small bit of
my kingdom, very close to the end, with no resources consequences.

At turn 1499, I can't reach F.T 192 but am very close..
I made some cities be very hungry for 1 turn to have more scientists and merchants...
At turn 1500 I finished Future Tech. 192, and WONNNNNNNN

Other disdcoveries :
** Make forment unhappyness to 1 or 2 of the AI cities, and they will increase their culture % for a few turns to stay happy.

** I don't like the city governer but I learnt how to use him and when not to.
I want him shot. now please.

** My pollution calculations and implementation are ok - I did 19 forges, 1 Ironworks (2 pollution), 23 labs and 3 airports.
That's 47 pollution, where even a additional forge can trigger a global warming attempt. And indeed, we need destroy enemy forges/factories.

** uga booga
