I am looking for books that deal with teaching kids chess any ideas would be helpful.
 
Hi Quckly. I like this one myself.

A more basic one is Harvey Kidder's. You can get it for a penny + shipping & it comes w/ a little set.

I learned on his older (1970?) version of the book when I was about 8 or 9 though I didn't start playing seriously until I 19 in college.
 
As for websites. Heh, I Googled "chess website" and on page 1 was this gem which hasn't been updated since 1998. :D

A site I used to like going to when I first started playing is Bill Wall's site. You could surf around on there for hours.

There are probably hundreds of other sites w/ tactical problems to solve & examples of openings. Even wikipedia has a fairly extensive listing of chess openings and some tactics & mating patterns (like the Epaulette mate).
