Is there any way to do repetitive tasks easier and faster? Like the other day I had to upgrade 119 Infantry units into Mechanized Infantry, I had to upgrade them one by one from the Military adviser screen :crazyeye: The same for disbanding unites in the same game I had to disband 54 Cavalry, again one by one from the military adviser screen.

Any solution to this "problem"?

You can do mass upgrades by using shift-u. I don't know of a way to do mass disbanding.

Thanks a lot! Do I do this from the Military Adviser or from the normal game view (cities, tiles, etc..).

You need to do this from a city/town. Only units in cities/w barracks will be upgraded.

I did not know this and I'll be sure to use it next time there is need of mass upgrading. I really dis like going troop by troops doing this sort of thing.

Thanks all :D

One last thing, what is a "City/Town" view?

I know I sound like a total noob :P

if this refers to my post... you don't want to go into the City view (I added in town so you would know that a size 1 town works just as well). You just want an active unit IN the town.

I think what Blaze9519 refers to is what you get when you click on a city or town (city view), units in this display listed as "Garrison" (on the bottom) can be upgraded from there.

When a unit becomes the 'active' one, either by clicking on it or when its turn comes up during your movement phase, press shift+u. This pops up a dialog telling you what it will cost to do a mass upgrade and asking for confirmation. As darski said, only units in barracks will be upgraded.

Why were you disbanding 54 cav??? You should use them attacking your neighbors, even if they are obsolete, 54 will still take a number of cities by sheer attrition. If you are mass disbanding you need to evaluate your production of units, stop building more when you don't need more.

That was my guess.
If you don't want to abandon 54 cav, you could put them on a boat or just run them into your enemy.

Be careful of the mass upgrade, though. It's an easy way to "upgrade" elite units to veterans.

When I am going to do a mass upgrade, I always go through looking for any elites and I put them outside a town. I don't usually have a bunch so it doesn't take long :lol::lol:

I like to keep 20-30 cav around for late game chores like blockading and pillaging.

I would hope your disbanding them in cities that could put the production shields to good use.

The one I stumbled on last night was that if the science slider is at 100% and you click on the center tile of the town, all the specialists will be scientists, apart from any necessary jokers. Any other science setting will set them to taxmen/jokers.

I had always been going though each town, clicking on each specialist I wanted to change.

Its probably in the manual somewhere...

Darski, one thing I find useful after rails is to fortify all my elites to just outside the capital where I can find them when targets of opportunity arise and where they are at no risk of being upgraded. Before that, they travel with one of the attack stacks, and only fight when a good target presents itself.
