Well, it's a Classical start, so let's go up to 200 AD for first spoiler.

- contender save (Emperor)
- lucky: received a religion, switched civics to OR
- lucky: galley survived a barbarian galley attack, could fully heal, survived another attack
- city placement is difficult
- not too much trouble with land barbarians (a bear and a warrior)

At 200AD (1AD actually, because I missed the date, but not much happened since 1AD, I think):
- could build the GLH
- 4 cities (1 island); still trying to expand
- start seems isolated => settle more islands? research currency? build cothons? build colossus? research astronomy quickly?
- 2nd in "demographics screen gold" (but with the culture from religion it might be difficult to be sure tech will be ok)
- didn't create a disconnected city (to build cheap warriors after access to iron)

My Deity game at 150 AD (closest save) is totally different from every else's: 3 cities, 11 pop, GLH completed 800 BC, no AI met. ;) OK, one possible difference--I settled on the PH south of the corn because... why did I do that? I guess to leave the 2nd city to the west better positioned, and for the extra hammer. (And yes, I forgot to revolt the first turn.) Where did everybody else settle?

Seconded. ;)

Like many of us, I suddenly find myself spending much more time at home than usual, so I should actually be able to finish this one for a change. I hope everyone, especially my old SGOTM buddy DH, is well. Take care of yourselves. A good way to do that is to hunker down at home and play more Civ!

Deity, don't have the save at that time but I had GLH built, 7 cities, no AI met.
Settled 1W for more food and switched to Slavery bot forgot to switch to Monotheism :(. That cost me 40:hammers: on GLH and some more on other buildings. Probably close to 150 across the empire. Would probably have had 2 more cities with snowballing.

Decided to settle in place once I noticed the fresh-water grassland 3 tiles north.
1N1W would mess up my 2nd city and have a slower start.

Tried the Deity save at the 11th hour and was lucky enough to get Judaism.
It was 60% chance to get a religion?

Anyway, got The Great Lighthouse after founding 2nd city, and I am going for Colossus in capital and Hanging Gardens in my stone city I think.
200AD Empire

Well, not quite. The pic is correctly the small map from 189. But when I click on it, I get the big map from 182.
I don't know why that is happening. Maybe something got overloaded or a link isn't working right.
:(
