BOTM Gauntlet #4

Lets continue the gaunlet series. Sorry for being a little bit late this time.

Disclaimer: the gauntlet is NOT a parallel competition, but an unofficial challenge within the GOTM. The reasons for starting it are (1) increasing competition for those who want it, and (2) making it easier to compare different games and learn.

The rules are simple:
1. Take BOTM-4 CHALLENGER save.
2. Play the game according to GOTM rules, and submit it as usual.
3. There will be a chosen VC each time, announced before the game starts. The winner of the gauntlet will be the one who gets the fastest victory of that type.
4. It would be great if everyone could post their saves at say 1000BC and 1AD after the game is over, so that we can compare different games in more detail. I will not make this rule compulsory for the first game, but we'll see later.

The chosen VC for this game is CULTURE.

I'm in, assuming I find the time (which I believe I will during the easter period).

Even though I'm not going to play this cultural game, it makes sense to me that it's not just another warmongering game. I thought religious might be interesting, simply because it might be difficult to spread your Apostolic religion to all AIs (depending on the map, of course). BUt cultural will provide some variety too.

EDIT: I suppose on this map, cultural will be relatively fast.

Changed my mind. I'm going to give this a go. I've never played a cultural game before (not even in CivIII ), but here goes...

Stop whining, you pansy! We'll all have to try our best to beat jesusin in this one. I hope I find time as competing with you and Wastintime in Cultural Majors was one of mine most intriguing Civ experiences.

Too high expectations, really. My strategy is Deity-oriented, it won't addapt well to Prince level.
Lexad's conquered capitals and killercane's WWs will both beat my cute little wimp pink 6 citied civilization.

On that theme, more than one person has looked at LowtherCastle and initially come out with LowerTheCastle!

Which I still think is why some shorten his name to LTC, rather than LC.

After my pathetic attempt at challenger in BOTM 03, I am back to contender for BOTM 04 (after all, I have yet to beat BtS at monarch! )

You did, by implication. Okay, maybe not the full username, but at least the words within. Going from 'Lowther' to 'Lower the' is going from one (apparently) meaningless to two meaningful words. So you may not be consciously seeking meaning in the username, but your mental mechanisms sure act like they are. Or?

you have a point. I think the "Lowther" to "Lower the" unconscious substitution might be more of a pattern recognition issue than a search for meaning issue (although I suppose a pattern is a kind of meaning ... ). The sense I was using meaning was that I don't expect that everyone can provide an explanation or definition of the username.
