Yeah I suppose it would be nicer if he said "o que vossa mercê quer?" (What do you want?). Anyway, it is obvious that as Emperor you have to talk to everyone, low class included. He is pissed off (it's a hate line) so he spoke it less politely, employing less high brow language patterns. Just a theory.

I am not sure about this. In the status, it shows "Neutral". Not sure if it is a hate line...

Hmm, I think the use of GWAM's and themeing bonuses will be very interesting with Brazil. Is it that only 1 type can produce golden ages? If so, creating great works with the other two and GA's for the UA bonus might be a good idea, but then it'll be tougher to get the themeing bonuses due to lack of great work diversity. Or maybe trading them will make it very easy and boring . We'll have to see how it plays out.

You mean at 1:18? "Deveremos prosperar através do comércio?"

I actually think they got the tone right... that doesn't sound like a kid at all. He sounds like an aged Brazilian gentleman with a Rio de Janeiro accent actually, pretty good. ("prrosperrarr" "comérrcio")

One thing though... "Should we prosper through commerce?" That's no friendship declaration.

This! He sounds a bit raucous and all! :p

And that's true - Leaders use their Request Line for both trade agreements and Declarations of Friendship. In some cases it works alright - others seems a bit weird!

I didn't like much his voice or even his voice tone if you ask me. He sounded unnatural in every line I heard so far.

(truth be told, I always imagined him as a very imponent person and that's why I tend to dislike every representation of Dom Pedro II who is nearly mundane)

What I really wonder about Brazil is that : if the culture is a defensive stat, and that in order to win a cultural victory, your tourism must overcome the highest culture in play, does it mean that you just need to get a golden age and bam ! Double tourism, even if your tourism 550 and your opponents culture is 1000, you beat them and won the game through culture ... I'm worried cultural victory will be way too easy with Brazil ...

I don't think it's culture and tourism per turn that counts, but total culture and tourism. So a sudden, short-term tourism boost will help you catch up but, unless you already had an advantage, it won't give you enough to win.

I wonder if my city, Campinas, will be in. It was quite the place were the cool kids were back in 1850 :P
How many cities are usually in a civ? If there is around 20 I'm pretty sure my city will get in.

Usually something between 30-40, sometimes less, sometimes more. I think Campinas has a decent shot. My hometown and the city where I live, on the other hand, would be lucky to be in the top 75.

I'm from Campinas as well. We have one of the greatest Brazilian universities and decent population numbers, I think it's quite a possibility.

I think they'll probably have at least one city from each state, I'd say. And then those states like São Paulo and Rio will probably have two or more cities (like Campinas and São Paulo, Petrópolis [of course!] and Rio, etc.)
