Since one of the early patches, the default for policies is that they can't be saved. I found that even turning on "allow policy saving" does not work  I still have to choose even with that option on.

Thing is, G+K should revert to the old system. With freedom, order and autocracy now in the industrial era, we should be able to save up a bunch of policies and rip through them if we so choose.

Nooooooooooooooo

You can not select a policy at a time if you enable policy saving just by right clicking on the 'choose policy' button on top of the end turn button.

I had the same problem some time ago . When you "allow policy saving",you can skip choosing a SP . Just Right-click the button on the social policy icon when they request it to choose a social policy .

The powers that be need to make this clear... and have a button that says skip... for this and for promotions.

Skip.

Easy button. One four letter word. Skip.

The game also has problems knowing when to end turns. Buggy crap that makes it unenjoyable sometimes.

This is silly. When setting up a game, goto the advanced options and there is a check box's for this; one for "Allow Policy Saving" and one for saving promotions

Ahem, re-read the original post

It works, you just have to right click it.

Thanks for telling me. I honestly didn't know that. But my point still stands. Policy saving should be the default IMHO. It's so irritating to start a new game and find that you've forgotten a setting.

Agree, there should ability to set Default advanced set up because atm you can only set default Civ, size, difficulty, time, map type but can't go into details.

They definitely need to implement a way to save your favorite advanced settings. The one time I played a One City Challenge was because I misclicked it when I was aiming for Quick Combat.

Also does anyone use the standard "Set Up Game" option? I always find that I need to go into the advanced set up because the standard one is just missing too many options (ie no quick combat). If I remember correctly Civ4's custom game only had what would be equivalent to the advanced options, and the standard options were available through the play now game set up wizard.

Keep default as "no policy saving" imo. This is the way the game was intended to be played. If you want special rules, you click the options and set them up.

I find that the options i have chosen in "advance setup" are in effect even if I don't use advance setup, but instead use "set up game". This lets me choose all the advanced options I want, but still have the friendlier "set up game" interface for choosing what civ I play, etc.

In particular, once I've set options in advanced, they are still there game to game for me and still apply even in "set up game". So while policy saving isn't the default out of hte box, I only have to set it *ince* and then I have it every game unless I explicitly change it.

This is civ5 on the mac. It's possible this behavior is not there on other platforms, as there are definite differences between them.

And then they discovered it was exploitive (to some people). Lots of things have changed since the release. They intended lots of things that are different now. They rebalanced the entire game with "no policy saving" in mind. The only reason the option is still there is because some people wanted to keep it (which is fine). But the "policy saving" is the special rule, not the other way.

Haha, so yeah, i agree. :D
