broken collage

in civ 4 colonization i upgraded to a collage and no longer get to choose what the school upgrades the people get. i wanted to start making advanced soldiers and the school was taking 30+ turns so i upgraded to a collage and the next 2 guys that graduated became ore miners.

i cant choose anymore


i am playing the french and the collage doesn't let me decide what to become.

i do have a advanced soldier in town..

i made one with the school. upgraded to collage and get ore miners

I suspect you didn't have enough cash to pay the graduation fee. If you 'mouse over' a student in your college you will see a list of the professions available on graduation and what they will cost. However when your student does graduate you will only be offered those professions that you can afford - and an ore miner is free.
