After installing the 3.17 patch, I started having issues the first time around with BTS - within a few seconds of the start of a game, I'd get a CTD with no error message.

I tried it with all sorts of mods, specifically FFH2, the 'latest' patch (f for.. um, the latest one. >.<)

In an act of desperation (I need my fix, man! I need my fix!) I went into the options and turned all graphics down to low, and remembering how I fixed a problem on a different game, turned the sound off.

The game worked. My mods work.

I turned the sound on.

Within 2 seconds, I got a CTD with no warning.

I'll have to see if the drivers for this thing are working, but I'll have to go check. This issue arose after an unsuccessful reinstall of CivFusion .6x, previously removed to fix a Python issue.

I'll keep an eye on these forums, and post more as I poke around with it.

welcome to cfc :band:

post your dxdiag results. Also does the windows event viewer contain an error message after the crash?

There's nothing on the Windows Event Viewer, I was checking that the last time I had this issue (Which was fixed with an uninstall/reinstall). As for posting the dxdiag results, um...

I'll, ah, try to figure that out and get back to you on that.

- your graphics card driver is :old: - get a new one (note: I checked that it is for your card - but do so yourself as well)
- get win xp service pack 3 (just a general thought - should not be necessary)
- your sound driver could be updated as well most likely - but those drivers are difficult to find: who manufactured your computer? check if any of the companies listed here apply.

I'm not certain who made the computer I'm using for gaming, as it's the 'house' computer. I've permission to use it, as it's location is in what became my room.

Now just to figure out what else needs doing.
