[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

Capo, any chance you could upload here the files you edited on Lear? I will reskin Arthur meanwhile.

The old Casimir is a Brennus retexture. What if you used that head as a base, but with this beard, cloak, and crown (maybe even hair)? It might end up with both the style you're going for as well as the "big" look.

You know to be honest, the reskin of Brennus for Casimir is so well done you just simply not notice it is Brennus, unless you compare the two togather. I agree, some adjustments can be done however.

I would just put on the hair and crown on Brennus' head, and give him a new dress.

Capo, is it possible to make Lear look bigger? Maybe with Nifskope?
Here's Afonso- if you like him I will upload the edited art files.

I like it. The Spanish-style crown also fits better now that he's Portuguese. Would it be possible to elongate the beard a little? The only other possible suggestions I could make would be to tweak the face a little and make the hair darker in order to make him less Pericles-like, but that's not a huge issue. With the new Henry the Navigator, there will be three good Portuguese leaders!

I can make the beard longer in Blender. I made the hair as dark as I could. I just dont know how to make it any darker.

I think you should make his skin lighter and maybe try and give him a few wrinkles if possible. I'd leave the hair as-is, but I'd make the armor black with gold trimming on it, and maybe give him a different BG.

Here are the files for the Lear-based-Casimir.

With the new Jimmu LH we now have four possible new leaders for Japan, and only three slots open. We now have Jingu, Jimmu, Hirohito and Meiji. Which one should I cut from the list?

Meiji or Jingu (right now Jingu looks better than Meiji, but who knows what Ekmek will do). Jimmu and Hirohito should definitely stay!
Now, about Afonso- I'll try to find a BG that's less grey. Making the armour black and the skin lighter- if you could tell me how to do it in Photoshop I'll do it. I'm not that good at this texturing thing. I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for Lear's files- I'll see what I can do with it too.

Alright, I'll work on retexturing the Armor to stand out more from the background. Just work on the face and beard (if you planned on extending it or anything) and maybe a new BG. There isn't really anything wrong with the BG you have now, I just think something a bit more darker would look better for Afonso. I'll try and have that new texture within the next couple of days so we can release him.

I thought you would like a brighter BG. I'll see what I can find.

Here's a picture of what I've done so far.

This is unifinished, but I figured I'd post a little something for everyone just so they can see what I am going to do to the texture. I wanted to emulate the images you see of Afonso wearing black armor, and this was what I came up with. I hope you guys like it so far...

I don't know why I made the background like that and put the coat of arms on it, I was just a little bored I guess.

Obrigado, Capo! Looks good. I hope you like what I did with his face. By the way, I am working now on fixing your Basil, and I did the same to him. Any progress on Vercingetorix's helmet?

You're welcome Igor! I still have a few things I want to change a little bit (the last remaining iron/silver looking portions for example). I figured the black armor seemed to be very popular among southern-European monarchs (if not all European monarchs of the time), and most images I came across of Afonso had him in the black armor. Although this may just be a bit anachronistic on the part of the artists; either way I think it makes the LH look more unique.

I have begun a few mock-ups of Vercingetorix' helmet, but as I just discovered how to fix the Mediterranean ships thing I had to go back and edit some of that, and the Afonso texturing took some of my time up. I did have a few questions for you though;

1) How "realistic" do you want the wings to look? And by that I DO NOT mean if you want them to look like an actual bird's wings attached to a helmet, what I mean is if you want the quality of the metal work to be really good or do you want it to look a little rustic?

2) The helmets that I have seem appear to be a bit "romantic," a real Celtic (especially Gallic) helmet looked more like a Roman Legionary's helmet. In fact the Romans adopted many Celtic ideas for their armor. So what direction should I go in here?

3) Finally; what color should it be? Bronze, Silver/Iron, or Gold?

Just a quick update on my progress because I will probably be releasing the first test mod soon. The first test mod will only be given to a few people (you can request to get a copy if you'd like by PMing me) and will deal with just graphics at this point. These are the civs I still have to flavor:

Germany
Franks
India
Iroquois
Israel
Khmer
Mongolia
Persia (well, its half-way finished)
Portugal
Sioux
Spain
Sumeria
Turkey
Vikings
Polynesia

I still have to add flavored city-sets (hopefully that will be finished by GeoModder and company relatively soon) and then I have to flavor the non-combat units such as Settlers (although some are already flavored), missionaires, executives, and great people. When that is done and the new civs are added (I will probably NOT put all of the new leaders in the game at this point, the only "new leaders" will be for the new civs, Clovis WILL NOT be part of this first test release BTW).

The good news is that with the exception of a few Germany units and some Portuguese units the sets are already complete for these civs, so it is only a matter of time until they are finished up. I have a few people in mind to test this out, but if you are interested in being part of the team please PM me. I will ignore any requests to test it in this thread.

1. I don't care
2. I don't care
3. I don't care
In other words- you have complete freedom to do whatever you think is right! I will accept any helmet you make.
Maybe it is because of my total indifference to military history.

Keep Meiji and Hirohito.
I'm kinda split between Jimmu and Jingu.... but if I had to pick, I'd go for Jimmu.
Meiji and Hirohito are must haves, though.

I was definitely going to keep Meiji. I was thinking of removing Hirohito, but I think with the preponderance of WWII-era leaders this mod will have (and the very big possibility of one or two WWII scenarios in the Deluxe version) it would be foolish to do so. Which leaves Jimmu and Jingu. Currently I am not sure what to do. I'd like to use Jingu in order to raise the amount of female leaders in the mod, but I think Jimmu would make a better LH for them than Jingu. On the same token I think the Jingu LH looks slightly better, partially because of the animations and partially due to the background (plus Ekmek taught me everything I know about LH making, so I like to pay homage to him when I can). I think Jimmu would look a lot better with Jingu's BG though, and a slight reskin on his attire. So I haven't made up my mind yet.

I also noticed there was a nice Yu LH out there now. China already has four leaders, and I don't intend on changing them (Mao, Taizong, Qin, and Cixi) but I am kind of thinking of turning Yu into a Korean leader or potentially a Mongolian leader. What do you guys think of either one of those ideas?
