[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

Alright, it appears as if it is a new patch. Which totally blows because it means everything I am doing right now MIGHT not work.

I'll figure that out. If it really is going to effect the mod as it stands now I'll start on the new mod first and make the module pack for that. So we'll see what happens.

Looks like the patch only added a few things from the unofficial mod.
Kinda lame. Really don't see why they even bothered.

Okay, so 3.19 is an official patch?

If that is the case what changes have been made with it?

There's a thread under general.
Fixes the gold overflow exploit, a few AI-civic glitches, a glitch nobody ever heard of, and a glitch relating to the No Espionage issue. They also removed Barrage from tanks, but that's pretty much it.

For the Francesca, I'm making a francesca unit for the MechaMod, so i could help you with that.

Damnit, why the f*ck can't they fix the MAF error? Don't they realize that's all we care about anymore? Everything else has already been fixed by the community.

Firaxis is kinda lazy.
With this, they didn't have to do anything. It'd already been done by the community. So they just repacked a few fanpatches into an official patch.
They didn't even cover -all- of the unofficial patch's fixes.

Is there a way to turn one of Bakuel's Frankish units into this unit? I ask because I am, obviously, going to use that as the flavored set for this mod.

Also is this going to be an early/classical unit or a medieval unit?

Well, whether or not the new patch is a big deal I am going to have to use it as the basis for my next mod. And as far as the new module pack goes I have hit two huge snags, the first one is an old one and that is that I can't get the Assyrian units to work properly. The heads are not showing up correctly or sometimes not even at all. And the second issue is that the Filipino units are not coming out well. Now this is partially because it hasn't had my 100% attention, but also because I am not good at making units and for a truly accurate Filipino set it may be beyond my abilities.

I haven't decided what to do just yet. I have a few options. The first is to release it without these two civs, the second is to try and focus on getting the Assyrian units to work and then moving on from there. I think I have overloaded myself. I have started working on the new LHs, I am involved in this Alexander Project (which is awesome so far by the way), I just belted out this Byzantine LH (check it out in the database), and I have also begun compiling new flavored sets (which is also working out quite awesomely I must say). So while I feel bad that everything is getting delayed becuase of all of that stuff, A LOT is actually getting done right now for the new mod. Another thing that might be a good discussion here is this issue; now that we have a new Alexander, who will the old Alexander be? I still haven't figured that one out just yet so let me know what you think.

Old Alexander looks a bit Roman to me, maybe he could be altered to fill in for a Roman leader?

Also, don't worry about -authentic- Filipino units. There's going to always be a good amount of guesswork to it.
For their medieval units, maybe just recolor the aztec units? Then spanish units after that. Modern units... not sure. Their uniforms look a lot like our own.

They also removed the copy protection, so no DVD required in drive.

I can help with the Assyrian units.

Another thing; I am going to make a Clovis I LH for the Franks (or perhaps another leader, I haven't decided yet on who it will be) to go along with Charlemagne. I was wondering what you think a 400 ce - 600 ce Frankish leader/general/chieftan would be dressed like?

EDIT: Everything I have found is pretty anachronistic. Its all from like the 1200s through 1400s and basically has them dressed like they were contemporaries of the time period the etchings were made in. I was thinking of giving him a late-Roman style breastplate and then make everything else look Germanic/Frankish, but it would be much better if I had something to go with.

Wow, lots of posts. Alright I'll get you the Assyrian units soon Mechaerik, it shouldn't be too difficult because they are all generally "finished" and you seem to know what you are doing.

Well, I already have FOUR Roman leaders in the current mod. In the next one I am going to replace one with that nifty Pencilgod LH (probably as a Republican-era leader like Marius or Scipio) so Rome is fine. And honestly I'd rather just still use him as a Greek leader but I am not sure which one would make the cut yet. He doesn't look like a Leonidas, I am thinking more of an Athenian, Corinthian, Theban or even like an Ionian Greek leader.

There's already a really spiffy Leonidas anyway. Not sure who made it but he's in Extra.
Maybe he could represent a figure from the Trojan Wars?
We could have Leonidas to represent the war against Persia, <Old Alexander> to represent the Trojan wars, Pericles for the Peloponnesian war, and Alexander for his reign.

Now that I think about it, I do believe I've seen a Hector LH made from Old Alexander.

The last bit is probably what you'll have to go with. Most of the Clovis depictions I've ever seen have him as a sort of Jesus figure with a crown. Same goes for many other leaders of the time and area.
The only thing I'd bring from that is maybe using Cyrus's head and hair as a base. On top of that, some roman armor, and some vaguely Frankish robes.

It could be worse.
Look at all the Byzantine leaders who are all Eric Clapton, or the many Hellenic figures who are Ptolemy's twin brothers.
