[BtS] DIPLOMACY: a mod for Diplogames!

I like those ideas. I am not entirely sure what I am going to do about Gran Colombia's leaders, at least officially. So for now we'll have to see how the mod runs WITHOUT the new civs first, which is actually what I am working on. As far as the flag goes, that's up to Madman although I am extremely happy with the two new ones he has made, but that logo would look pretty good on a flag actually. At this point I have yet to implement any new sounds, features, abilites, or units until I am comfortable with working with the new mod. So at this point I have added the new flags and colors and I have done ONE flavored set (which still has a few holes) and that is Greece. It looks amazing though, and I think if I just put the care into every civ that I put into Greece this is going to be the BEST looking mod out there. And I am including every mod out there, so that's saying a lot.

I have no idea when the new mod will be ready. I am hoping for two months, but it could easily take longer than that.

Well, I've finished the first flavored set (using Bakuel's Greek units, among some others) in the new mod and its a good feeling. An accomplished feeling actually. Practically every single unit is unique in the Greek set, a couple of them (like the settler, scout, worker etc.) will be shared with other civs, but at this rate I have flavored everything into the modern era. I am only missing a MachineGunner and Infantry at this point (yes, even the Caravel, Galleon, Frigate and SOTL are all flavored) so I'm pretty happy with it, and I even mixed up some units (so the Phalanx has a Spartan, Corinthian and Athenian, the swordsman has a Spartan, Thespian, and a Theban) so it looks really cool.

I'm not sure who I am going to do next, I was thinking the Persians but I am not sure I want to go around editing the new UUs just yet, although I suppose I should because that's a set I really want to see in action. BTW Bakuel's Greek units are amazing.

I again attempted to upload that Apache module and it didn't work again, although I didn't get a reply from the admins yet. This same thing happened before when I tried to post the Ireland module (remember that Madman?) and it didn't work. The strange thing is that the Congo Module was posted with no issues.

Now some rather bad news, at least from my perspective. My friend from Oregon is staying with me and while I was at work he decided to play some civ MP. In doing so he upgraded to 3.19 somehow so Diplomacy doesn't work anymore  , the unfortunate outcome here is that its going to be difficult for me to finish the last module pack without looking at the game. So what I am going to have to do is work on it and then send it to someone who still has a working Diplomacy mod and have them look at it and correspond with me as to what changes need to be made. Its kinda lame but that's the process we're going to have to follow.

Aren't you just adding civs, leaders, units in those packs ? i.e. only xml changes ?

In that case you should be able to simply test the pack as a standalone pack (i.e. its own mod), or am I missing something ?

Who's the fourth Roman leader: Marius, Scipio, or Trajan?

I thought he'd said Scipio.

Although Capo, if you're still undecided and want a Roman Republic leader, might I suggest Cato the Younger?
I'd still prefer Scipio (or even Caligula), but Cato is a nice Republic figure. Big diplomat, anti-corruption. Sort of stands as the opposite of the Roman Empire.

I don't think you are missing anything, but the modules were made to work with the mod. So a lot of the XML etc. in them refers to things that are in the mod. It would be easy to make it work with another mod and test it and then revert it back to the old mod but ultimately I still have to send it to somebody to test it on the old mod since I can not actually do this myself anymore (since my game is now 3.19). That's the point. I don't have a 3.19 compatible mod to use them in really, at least not pre-set. And I have around 30 modules to go through, which is going to be a lot of work to change a few units here and there just to get it to work and to test it when I am going to redo them anyway.

So basically I am weighing the options of (a) a huge waste of my time, and (b) delaying Module Pack III which has already been delayed a few months anyway. To me the choice is easy, particularly when I am making a new mod that is going to have one of the civs in Module Pack III (Polynesia) as a base civ anyway.

Personally I want it to be Marius because a) Scipio is bald and this leaderhead is not, and b) I like Marius better.

BUT, it seems Scipio would actually be a better leader for Civ. Particularly since Hannibal is in it, and also because he'd have traits different from both Julius and Augustus (I was thinking Aggressive and something).

As overpowered as it'd make him, Agg/Cha seems like the best trait combo for a great general.

Here's some text for Scipio.

Say, which leaders are being added to Diplomacy 2 (the regular version)? I might have missed somebody.

I, modulo II , europa I , europa II?

Sorry Bones; I haven't had time to upload them all at once (because they take FOREVER to upload as a pack, its like two hours or something), so I put up the Americas module pack because somebody wanted the Santa Anna LH (which Ekmek reuploaded with a new texture, and I actually upgraded). Filefront has started to, what seems to be, randomly deleting peoples' files for some reason. I am not the only person this happens to. When I reupload them again this will be the FOURTH time I have reuploaded these files and its getting really annoying for me. But I keep FileFront because it doesn't make people wait, and I know how much it sucks to wait.

I have begun upgrading Nubia with Bakuel's new units, and I am redoing a few things for Phoenicia and the Teutonic Order (as well as adding Bakuel's Hungarian units) but it may take me a few more days, especially since I already started on it previously and have started on other things too).

Sorry for that response; to answer your question more simply - I can start reuploading Europe I, Europe I, Module Pack II, and the corrected Americas (I gave Mexico a new Rifleman unit and upgraded Santa Anna, I think I am also going to fix some of Canada's units so they don't look so British). Module Pack I will probably take some time. Unfortunately the next day I'll have time may not be for a couple of weeks since its Independence Day Weekend here in the US and I'm busy all weekend since I live in the capital and all of my friends from out-of-town always come in for the fourth of July.

Also while I have you here; could you translate everything into Spanish for me? All of the modded stuff (so all of the new UUs, UBs, Leaders text). I would ask Madman but he's already doing a lot of the Diplomacy Text and buttons.

@ TAdF; I just tried to upload the Apache again. Didn't work. I think what I'll eventually do is put them up on FileFront for you to DL, as soon as I get around to reuploading the old packs I'll put them up and PM you.

Alright.
Once the module packs are back up, I can finish off the rest of the leaderheadinfos.

I will give you the text I need translated at some point, but it won't be anytime soon. I want to get the regular stuff working first and then as I start adding the new stuff I'll send you what I need translated. And I agree with you about the order/select sounds, I even mentioned this to Madman in a previous post/thread. We can't have it too specific anyway because every file costs more memory. If I have different order/select sounds for Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina etc. It will add needless extra files that will only increase the loading time and memory use. Same for Canada, Tuetonic Order, Minoans, etc. I don't even want to alter the Frankish order/select sounds. Certain civs like Haiti will just use the French sounds for example. I understand that it would be "better" to have these there, but I have to think about playability first, and its hard to weigh playability and quaintness. So I wouldn't worry about the Colombian sounds, because I doubt I am going to use them anyway. My friend thinks its funny that we are talking back and forth in two different languages BTW.

And just so you guys don't think I'm sitting around resting on my laurels, here are some images of some American flavored naval ships I have been working on. Its the Galleon, Frigate and Ship of the Line in that order...

Spoiler :

attachment.php

The Galleon looks a little torn apart in NifSkope, but in game it looks alright. The only problem is that I am getting python error pop-ups when the Galleon is selected (although it shows up fine in-game), so I have to figure that out too. Modding is such frustrating work!!!

I made the Frigate with the "Don't Tread on Me" flag and sails because I made the units so close to Independence Day.

No, it is only for the United States (America) Civ. But its only a reskin, so certain civilizations will have flavored ships. Civs like Spain, Britain, France, Russia, Germany will have the same ship but with their own flavored sails. Certain other civs will actually have an entirely different model (like the Asian civs, and ancient civs like Rome will have "what-if" units).

Don't worry Capo, I can transate some stuff into Spanish.

However, I've been having problems with making mods in Spanish...when I make it so that the tags inflect gramatically, the genders are switched. I don't know why.

I have an idea. How about you reskin the Zulu units with horses so that they're riding zebras? It's really unhistorical (zebras are impossible to domesticate) but it would be fun and would set them apart (at least until the Swahilis are added).

Here is all the diplotext I have.

That's a pretty cool idea actually, even if it is unhistorical that's fine. I have medieval American units after all. Do you know if anyone has a zebra texture I could use?
